i'm very very surprised tiestos olympic cd would not be on this list? especially since hes #1 in the world, so fits right in with the mainstream pyschy of the grammy's. A paul oakenfold compilation?? what a joke, is his mixing really that spectacular that it would deserve musical recognition??? i think not. but then again, when its a pop oriented mtv teenie bopper fest (with some slight exceptions) i don't have any interest at all.

the main thing i like about EDM opposed to pop is the producer comes first, singer second. In other words, edm musicians don't try to market the singer as a sex object (in most cases), which to me puts a whole lot more credibility in the music itself. I look at the singer as being very expendable, becuase singing is a great talent to have, but the real work comes in making the music, and singing second. after all, the sound engineers are essentially the ppl who make the singing 'perfect.'

ok thats my little rant. now i'm done

reflections on the whole was a big disappointment.. if these guys had any idea of electronic music firstly they wouldnt include albums which are mixes in place of individual compilations and since they are..they overlook far better albums like balance 005 by james holden ....

from the looks of it, not one person on that committee knows a thing about edm.. it's as if they did a search on Amazon for electronic music and nominated the first few titles that came up:rolleyes:

ooh well.. at least they recognize it as a category

Legion of Boom has been getting alot of hype through some of the more mainstream media outlets. Hell, the Crystal Method was even awared the best act of the WMC last year award. They toured extensively and their album has gotten decent exposure. More so than PVD I'd say. I personally expect them to win, but I'd rather see PVD take it.
