Yeah. Az was wearing nylon (plastic-like) puffy pants and got sent home. :(
He ended coming back 20 minutes later and rocked his ass off, so I guess it is ok. |

Well I was there over the weekend and the constuctuion of the DJ both is under way! I think Trip is doin' a wikkid job and whomever else is workin' with him on this! It will be in use I think by this weekend, should be good.
:)
I think that it will be great - and I believe it will improve movability aroudn the dancefloor. Meaning, right now with the DJ Booth by the stair case; is a hassel with "traffiC" jams through the dancefloor and that area.
I will be there to party this Friday and I hope the DJ booth is in the centre, to see if there is difference!
See you there!

My Suggestions:
a) If everyone seems to have stair issues, (I know I do) don't just put a marker on them, fix the problem. If Charles can eliminate the columns holding the roof of Koolhaus for better sitelines, Boa should be able to start woking on losing some of the stairs. (Yes, I know i'll probably be a major construction project, but even flattening out a few areas and having say... 3 levels) would be a woudl be a massive improvement.
b) Enforce the no smoking rule. The # reason why I and my friends are turned off by Boa is that it's just gross with smoke. Even the smokers complain
c) Coatcheck. When it's -30 outside, why can't clubs plan that EVERY person who comes will bring a caot - and just deal with it efficiently. From an ROI perspective, charge and extra buck and do it right.
d) The dress code is stupid. As somebody else said, we go to Guv, System and Boa to dance... Comfort should trump fashion. If we wanted fashion, we'd all be addicted to the Richmond Street bars along with the 905-ers. It pisses me off when I am out with friends and we wonder if weshould go to Boa and then realize I can't because I'm wearing jeans or skater shoes.
My suggestions... |
a) I've thought about this numerous times. If the flattened the club out, especially the dancefloor area then that would be sweeeet.
b) I haven't actually had a problem with the smoking yet...
c) Yea, coat check is definately something that needs a little work: especially when it's a busy night
d) Everytime I've gone to Boa I was wearing jeans and white runners. Haven't had a problem.

why do people always request this 'get a permanent liquor license' for boa???
how many times does it need to be said. its an afterhours club. it opens at 1am for s sake.
i seem to have pms this morning...

If Boa ever gets a permanent liquor licence then it'll definately lost a lot of it's quality. Some people just don't get the fact that by eliminating alcohol, they eliminate almost all of the jackasses that would litter the club with their presence. Let them stay at Guv or System.

2.) They had more REAL techno music, and not imitation techno (aka tech-house or whatever they call it)
|
LMAO...do you even know what tech-house is?? |

Lastnight out of the blue, a concept that would somewhat relate to this came to me. And it was our MSN convo Pete (believe it or not), that sparked my thinking. I'm going to share it with Rony and Carey, and see if its possible..... ;)

You're absolutely right. We don't need alcohol (especially on Saturday nights), although it has seemed to work on the occasional Friday and the response has been great so far. |

On occasion, I'm all for it. Completely ignoring the alcoholics would be stupid, just like completely ignoring trance, breaks or techno would be too. Variety is a good thing; and Boa is doing the right thing by supporting all the different clubbers in the city, but doesn't do it enough to stray away from its core. Right now it's a good balance.
As for flattening the club out, I've thought about this for a while. I even have a good picture in my head of how it would look  Even if only 1 step was eliminated, like the one that's nearest to the booth, would make a big difference. |

I have a problem with people smoking in the main room when it gets to the early hours of the morning too.
But there are people who even complain about the smoking lounge. I mean come on, if you don't want to breathe in smoke, DON'T GO DOWN THERE! |

But it's so much easier to just bitch and moan about it until they finally do something. I mean, I can't possibly stay upstairs and just have fun knowing that I can get cancer if I happen to venture downstairs!!
