America 2008: Who has your vote?
View this Thread in Original format

Seing that 2008 is only 3 short years away, who do you think will emerge as the likely candidates for the election in 2008 and who got your vote?

My list of likely candidates:

Al Gore
Hilary Clinton
Rev. Al Sharpton (can we have an election without at least one clown?) :D
Rudy Guliani
Collin Powell
John Kerry
and Edwards

Personally, I would vote for Collin Powell if he ran for the office, even though he's republican. Him and Guliani on the ticket... Naaah, too many people wouldn't go for it unless Powell was a veep.

What say you?
Shakka
I'm pretty sure Gore is done. I'd laugh if he tried to run.
Colin Powell has consistently said he has zero intentions of ever running for president.
I'd never vote for Hitlary.

My vote goes to Pedro.
Q5echo
where's Newt? oh well.

If Shakka runs, that's my nizzle.

f**kin Sharpton:rolleyes: uggh!

I don't think Kerry will run again and if he were, he would have no chance at winning the primary. I like the guy, but his campaign was not run that well and he failed to work on voter fraud issues like he promised. Edwards also is out of the running, because he's out of public service after being a 1 term Senator. He has some family things to take care of and will return to private life.

I would add Sen. Evan Bayh from Indiana as a possible "Middle America" candidate and likely a governor from a swing state, possibly Bill Richardson or Tom Vilsack. Dean might try again if he doesn't get the DNC chair and possibly Rep. Ford from TN might announce as a candidate, since he is always looking to become a leader in the party.

For the GOP, you also have to throw in John McCain, who sold his soul to stay in with the ultra-conservatives this past year. Newt Gingrich seems interested, but wouldn't stand a chance against Giuliani, Powell or McCain, paticularly based on his own problems with morality. Schwarzeneggar would be a strong candidate, but it seems unlikely that an Amendment to the Constitution will be able to succeed for him to run. Rice might be on the ticket, maybe as a VP candidate, depending on how she does as Secretary of State.

Sadly, Hillary would probably win the Dem. primary and then not win a single state that Kerry lost, because she's such a polarizing figure. I would likely vote for Vilsack, because I think he has the right perspective to appeal to the most Americans. Powell would be the most tolerable if there has to be another Republican in office, but he looks a lot worse after being associated with the Iraq debacle.

2012 = Obama!!!

Hmm... you mentioned some names that totally slipped my memory, since they don't get as much limelight as the ones I mentioned. Newt would definitely stand a snoball's chance against any of the candidates, even weaker ones. Something about him just doesn't sit in right (maybe coz' he looks too much like Ted Kennedy???? :nervous: )

As far as Arnie being on the ticket - maaaan, please don't make my "Demolition Man" fears resurface again!!! (Schwarzenegger Presidential Library :stongue: ) - Though there's a wacko movement now to ammend the constitution to allow him to run. I think the URL was www.arnoldforamerica.com or something like that..

Yeah, there's going to be a lot of people none of us would ever think of that are going to enter the race when it comes time and some will make a serious run at the nomination.

I would not be able to stop laughing if Newt got the conservative vote, since "Mr. Morality" fights so hard to protect the sanctity of marriage, despite divorcing his wife to marry a younger congressional aide...and that was after he had already sought divorce from his first wife while she was in the hospital after multiple surgeries! This all includes a number of affairs as well! It's actually much worse than he accused Clinton of.

Anyway, I think there will be a push to allow Arnold to run, but it just seems like they're not going to be able to pass an amendment to do so. I just want him allowed at the debates so talk radio can provide some laughs. The Kevin Matthews show in Chicago was a riot during the governor's race.

JOHN McCAIN.

newt will be long dead before anyone forgets the bitch-slapping he recieved by clinton (bill). the memories of that "scandal" still make me laugh. anyone remember the story of the rednecks recording his cell-phone conversations?

what about jeb? the GOP tryed to slip him into the tsunami converage with little avail.

the dems best hope is that mccain gets the republican nod, as they can't seem to be able to put forth anyone that can steal back some southern dems. but mccain may be too moral for the moral right.

2008 may be the year perot was looking for. I WANT CHARTS!!!:p

I'm not voting for candidates of either of the two corporate parties. I'm into throwing my vote away.

Well, you've listed four candidates which have a slim shot in hell and which will never win. Please suggest another outside the list of clowns.

thanks,
