| You could try and talk them down. I got a fair bit off a package(tho you tend to get more off them) at JBSMusic doing that. Think they did student discounts at the time, so I talked them down....then mentioned I was a student. Basicly they guy got pissed off with me and wanted rid. Might work :toothless |

| theres a digital village in southampton so i guess we could try and find a sweet deal there. ill have to look out for a JBSmusic but its nice to know that some retailers are even willing to haggle. turnkey wouldnt budge on a virus classic. bastards! cheers for the tip though mate! |

so then, whats good about vestax's range of mixers? i thought vestax where famous for (quote. and i love this quote so much) 'making upside down ' :haha: |
true, they are very much into innovative new designs when it comes to playing stuff, but when it comes to mixing stuff, its extremely hard to find a mixer with such a high standard of build quality as the vestax mixer, without it costing £9084575. from my experience, the great thing about vestax mixers is that even the basic mixers they bring out are built like tanks. the faders are always spot on and they have a great x-fader. they also stand up to battering better than most mixers, my pcv275 is still as good as the day i bought it, and i give it some proper hammer.
as for best places to buy, i always use either sapphires ( www.decks.co.uk ) or jbsmusic.. usually getting a good price from sapphires and then getting jbsmusic to beat the quote :toothless |

| Plus they have nice long channel faders. Unlike the Numark PDD01 I bought which has really short ones. Which will piss you off more than you know. :sadgreen: |

know what you mean about the ridiculous prices of some mixers :nervous: . i think alot of people get suckered in by the kills, the fx, the punch buttons - this mixer looks like it has everything! which is a tempting buy but of course if it does everything and its cheap then it HAS to do some or all of them badly. and it may or may not be built like a dry rotting shed, wavering in the breeze.
i think you are right about build quality. i realised one of the things i liked so much about my mate's DJM500. it feels fun to use. it doesnt have kills, changeable crossover curves, punch buttons and the fx unit is pants. but what it does have is very well implemented. very well put together. it just feels good and solid. |

Yeah definatly KISS (keep it simple stupid) is the best way to go. Unless you have a really good reason to get the add on stuff. And it's just more stuff to break. And like someone else said try to play them off eachother. But I does kinda depend on the guy you get on the phone.
On a side note I just realised we are on exactly the same number of posts. lol Acually by the time you read this I have one more.... roll on custom status hehehe. |

Also why not look at the numark dxm06 its £175 now |
The Numark dxm06 is great fun for the price and is not too bad on build quality, although I find it is a bit on the light side. All in all its good value for money though.
Numark have just released this new mixer if you wanna save up a bit more cash.

| The only thing I would say about that mixer is the same problem as I have with mine. Seriously short channel faders. They make mixing with smooth transistions harder and just feel less accurate. |

Go for the ecler smac pro 20, it's small, but it's sooo good. A guy I know owns this mixer for 4 years now and it still is brand new, and believe me, he does a lot of spinning !!!
good faders, good sound quality, looks nice, ....
go 4 it !!!:D |

Well all i can add to this conversation is do not get the ps-626 pro if you want it to last....as they dont. Ive had mine a year, and through my own personal bedroom useage..(about once every other day for about an hour). And i dont hammer it, ive had my fair share of club experience and have been taught by some good dj's how to respect gear etc.... and mine has had the crossfader replaced on two occasions and channel faders have to be replaced too. Tops of buttons are starting to come off too....
As for the Gemini 676 then all the difference is this one has a small sampler on the bottom that the 626 doesnt. This is quite good, but not the best and to be honest id tell you to get something else that is better and will last.
What about Behnringers version of the Pioneer Djm-600....?
ive heard all the crap talk about Behnringer mixers, but ive used couple, and for the cheap price you cant complain, and they do last! A friend of mine has one, and has hammered hell out of it at parties and open raves etc (hes a hardcore follower lol):nervous: .....and its still working!
Theres my thoughts. |
