So how long in your opinion do you think the average set should be? This is not including live shows that we all know can run very long.
So what say you? |

For any purpose.
More as what is the easiest on the ears, makes the best impact etc...what in your opinion is the best length, whatever that means for you? |

| I am just looking for Your Personal Preference , just to get a general feel for what people like. I'm not looking for suggestions. |

my personal preference is about an hour. anything longer is great if you are just mixing for fun but i find it gets difficult to keep a really solid mood going for ~80 minutes.
why do i like 60 minutes?
1.its great for having a nice intro and outro (10 minutes)
2.~50 minutes for 6-8 tracks (depending what genre you spin) lets you keep a really consistent flow and sound, without having to get 'off-topic' as per se
3.short and sweet
4.perfect for radio timeslots heh
i think everyone should just remember that its quality not quantity, look at some of the greatest rock albums, few are longer than 50 minutes. |

For a radioshow, depending uopn the time slot allocated 1 hr or 2 would sound good. For a mix set or demo tape, 1 hr 20 mins would be great with a cue sheet.
As some other people have emphasized, its not really the time span but what you do with the time that matters. Ensure that the mix flows fluidly and energy level vary in a continuous fashion. |
