What does this mean? It means that my favourite producing software just kicked REASONS, Fruity, and Abletons BUTT!!! (okay...so that's a bit subjective...but you should all check it out!)

I've been a Cake junkie since I dropped 40 bones on Plasma. Project 5 was a bit of a disappointment as far as using it as a standalone, but the instruments and effects available made it worthwhile as a Rewire. In fact, I'd drop another 200 just for Velocity and Psyn. I can tell you honestly that I'll be in line for this one.

?? Disappointment? Dude...I dont know how this happened but check this out...

PSYN has been overhauled and is now PSYN II. It has been given even more knobs to tweak (Drive, Delay, MOD FX) and is even more powerful. The actual P5 engine was redesigned and can playback complete songs (with tons of tracks) GLITCH and POP free WHILE YOU ARE EDITING YOUR LOOPS AND DRAGGING YOUR PATTERNS!!!

Lookout Ableton Live 4!!! This one is gunnin' for you producers who want to play LIVE too!:eyes:

:happy2: Oh yes... with Cakewalk acquiring rgc:audio expect P5 II to ship with a new sampler and a few new synths!!:tongue3 The sequencer has been overhauled too! AMAZING! Also, look for an arpeggiator that will allow for an unending number of tweakable elements!!

We'll see in April!!

Sorry, I guess I was a little unclear. THe SEQUENCER aspect of P5 was a bit disappointing. I expect amazing things from Cakewalk, and the sequencer side of it was a little bit of a letdown. The instruments and effects though, those blew me away. Velocity is now my primary (only really) drum "machine", Psyn produces some of the thickest timbres I've ever heard from a soft synth, and the effects are the best bundled effects you're going to find in a package under $500. That said, I bought P5 (the actual product, not a crack) for under $100. I will be buying another copy in mid Feb. Customers who register v.1 will get a free upgrade to v.2. At $199 for version 1, the complete SmartLoops library, AND a free upgrade to V2, even if the hype is bull and it bombs, I'll still consider my $300 very well spent.

it'll probably end up in disapointment like their last project did. They are well on their way to getting better but I don't think they'll succed so fast after failing with their last one. But hey, it would be cool if I was wrong ;)

I've recently decided to produce my own stuff, to go with my songs & vocals... Bought a couple of Magix packages but they frustrated me... do you think Cakewalk is easier? I'm hoping it is (thus living up to its name)... I haven't installed it yet.
Would you people answer my questions if I need help?

:p

I can tell you for sure that ANY questions be they technical OR subjective about PROJECT5 will be answered at their forum

www.project5.com in conjunction with Project5 Forum was designed for producers to collaborate and contact each other... share stuff, ask questions, etc. Its quite unreal!

You're way wrong! I can guarantee it won't be a disappointment. BTW, did any of you fellas even try the v1.5 patch?? It really made the sequencer a world of better as well as fixed many bugs! SO yeah, the price is right, as you say... So I'd be buying it now before the "Free UPGRADE" taken away!

Hey..Im not saying DITCH whats workin' for ya...

I'm not gonna bash anyones app (cuz the point is, I haven't tried anything else!)

What I'm saying is I've used Project5 from day one...learned it inside and out (sh'yea right! ) and I've found it's weaknesses...but this new version addresses them ALL!!! And pushes it beyond what I could have asked for!! (A tool for LIVE performance!?!):) AND A NEW SYNTH FROM Rene (at rgc:audio)!!

From what I've heard, they have already been successful in their boasts at achieving what they say in the NAMM bulletin!:happy2:

Okay...now this post can die...I've said what needed to be said and I can collect my cheque from Cakewalk!!:stongue:
