hi all i have numark TT-200 decks with the original cartridge and stylus that came with them, i want to change the stylus but i dont know what stylus fits what, could anyone just point me in the right direction,:conf: keeping in mind i only want the stylus for mixing (no scratching) and i want record wear to be as minimal as possible.
thanks

at a guess, you have the numark groovetool cart, as that is the standard cart they send out with all numark decks.

you have to think about what you want, at the end of the day the cheap option is to replace the stylus, but they are crap anyway, they sound pants and don't treat your records too well. in my opinion, good carts are alays a really good investment. if you have some spare cash, look at shure whitelabels or ortofon concordes. for the middle of the range, with great specs, shure m44's are supposed to be really good for the money ;)

hey thanks for the reply, so would suggest replacing both the cart and stylus? i dont see how any cartridge can be better than another can u explain a bit more plz?
thanks

if you want lower record wear you need to buy a new cart, because styli don't fit on different carts. when you buy a new cart, it will come with a stylus..

differences in carts are usually all about sound quality and sound emphasis. the higher you go in price, the higher quality sound (usually). the stylus on that cart defines the record wear and tracking weights required.

the m44G's are great! They sound excellent, have VERY little record wear, damn near impossible to make skip, and they only need .75-1.5g of tracking force.

I <3 mine.

+1

I really am fond of the m44gs. I also own a pair of whitelabels, and to be honest, i think the m44g is much better value for the money. I also like how easy it is on vinyl, and how well it works for scratching.
