funny. :p

Anyways.. I'm gonna look around more this weekend, if I can't find it I'll just go to one of those tech/answer bidding sites and offer $10 or something to whomever can find a way to change it -- hell, if I could just transplant the 'explorer.exe' from Win2k over Winxp that would be great, but, I think that'd be problematic. :)

We definitely need to figure out a TA meet party down there.

i used to have my tasbar set to twice the hieght to get two layers, but i decided to have my shortcuts along the bottom layer instead. you get the day and date if you have a double height taskbar though :D

you could also try going to Start > Settings > Taskbar and Start Menu and make sure the "Group similar taskbar buttons" box is checked.

Look to the right, I have to click that down arrow there to see what else is open if I have more than 19 windows open - I don't like the grouping of similar programs under one taskbar button either, so, that is not a solution.

Can I even get rid of this? In win2k (and prior) buttons in the taskbar just adjusted and scaled down in size to make room for the new windows - I wouldn't mind having this back. :whip:

Can't help Swamp. I'm prolific with Win XP, use it at work cause I have to, not an expert, but still use Win2K at the house since Win XP did nothing for me personally. Seems you could stretch size of taskbar to view everything without a scrolldown. WTF do you got 19 programs open to begin with, besides just being the Almighty Swamp?

No, actually, I don't. I pretty much lost all respect for it when during its initial releases if you were to check your hotmail it threw your password as a parameter in the url initially - ya - that's just great.

Yes, i've seen it since, and it's a nice program - but - I like the quirks of msn and the various plugins I have installed, as well as the basic functionality my ancient version of mirc provides me.

So, ya, still, nobody has info on this :)

Smokeape - I run win2k at home but not at work -- eventually I'll have to change at home as well since win2k is reaching its end of basic support in June 2005

I hear you. New stuff just keeps making it harder for us old guys. Master one, then a new one comes out and you're back to Noob. Waiting for 64b file release from Windows.

to ungroup don't you just right-click on the taskbar and uncheck the 'group similar items' selection. now about swamper's problem, i have no idea as i've never had that many windows open at once. hell i just had to open all these windows to see for myself:toothless

oh boy .. you have serious problems there buster .. i had those problems those wretched days before i finally got JBuilder .. i had like 10+ notepad doucments open, a folder, command prompt to compile my java crap, one for telnet to the server, and one for ftp to the server (<== i could have shortened some of the process with WS_FTP, but i like it ol' skool style .. typing it .. ) ...

went with Ian^ idea of expanding the toolbar .. then i figured out [ALT] + [TAB] .. that has helped me wonders ... hahahhaha ... :haha: :nervous:

Make your winamp only show in the system tray

winamp > winamp preferences (ctrl+p) > general preferences > uncheck taskbar and check system tray

One less, 18 more to go!

alt-tab is cool, but you'd have to cycle through all the programs if you wanted to get to the last one
