USA electronic voting machines

Being kinda geek I read a lot about technology and I knew ages before the US election that there was many discovered AND UNPATCHED security holes in the electronic voting machines used for the U.S election.
These flaws had been publicly exposed on every tech-related website, and there was also a book published that currently described precisely the way to hack into a voting machine and modify the votes without any trace or proof left.
Those machines were used during the election, can you believe it ?

That's absolutely shocking. I saw the movie (thanks by the way) and was absolutely stunned. WOW. Now, I have some questions about all of this. First of all, were these exact machines used during the elections? Second of all, if they were, were the unpatched security holes fixed before the elections? Third of all, do we have numbers that actually indicate voter fraud of some sort during the elections? Fourth, if the elections could have been rigged, couldn't they have been rigged equally for Kerry? I know they have some numbers regarding counties in Ohio that looked like they were rigged in Bush's favour, but are they concrete, reliable and verifibale? It would be interesting to compare and contrast trends of counties that voted according to their traditional political allegiances, and to see the total votes counted versus total votes cast per county. |

| well i am an american that is in the middle of the road as far as politics go......the machines worked fine and had the election gone the other way, people would still be making up stories for the other guy |

Kind of shocking.......but after having lived in Syria, weird election results n procedures like this, are just nothing...

Please note that I didn't wrote anything about bush, kerry or the election results. As Epi said, both parties were able to exploit these flaws. I don't care care who did it, who did not. I'm only interested by the tech side of the issue. The right of voting and getting your vote recognized and counted cannot be compromised by technological advances.

3. I don't know. I'm not really interested by "did the fraud happened or not". Since I know it could easily happened, that's already too much for me.
4. Indeed. About the counties been rigged by Bush, I don't have any information about that. The only thing I know is that there was some key exit polls that were wrong during this election. Which is theorically possible but statistically near impossible. But since I don't have information, I don't have an opinion on that.
