Howling electric guitar sound in Vanguard or Pro 53

hey guys:

I apologize if this has already been dealt with, but I used forum search and couldn't find anything specific to this and this is my first time posting in the production section.....

- I'm working on a track, and I'm trying to get a really nice, 'howling' electric guitar sounding lead out of one of my VST's but so far I haven't been quite able to get it.

I've gotten about halfway there by using the LD Dble Dominator preset on Vanguard and tweaking the release on the first oscillator, the fatness of it and some other stuff or using Super Synch Lead on Pro 53 and pushing up the fine up ......but the first one has too much of a Nintendo-y sound on the lead I'm using (it sounds fine if you take a note and hold it, but sounds like it came out of the 8 bit NES box if you're using short notes ....I want Randi Rhodes or Eddy van Halen....not Mario and Luigi!) and the second one has too much of an initial 'squishy' sound. There are a few other things I've tried, but these get the closest.

So.....
Can I get this sound in Vanguard (which I otherwise love) or Pro53 or is there a freeware VST that will reproduce this sound?

You might be better off just recording it yourself, but its possible to make some good sounds with slayer...but i also think that a real guitar is a lot more flexible, if you have that option.
The Drow
Guitar Rig is better then Slayer

So you are saying software gets a better guitar-sound than a real guitar? I wonder who the n00b is...

I didnt say that at all maybe the guitar can give a better sound, but if hes asking for guitar VST than he isnt asking for a guitar is he, Guitars not only cost alot more but take alot more learning to.
Plus he said its lame and it isnt it can creat some pretty kick ass sounds :whip:

well i personally have been able to create some very conviencing guitar sounds with slayer. anywhere from electric to accostic to ethnic. slayer is a damn good program and slayer 2 blows the piss out of the first one. so honestly get slayer 2 and take a look at some of the presets theres quite a few and then just tweak tweak tweak till you get what your looking for. its not really that hard to be quite honest.and calling software lame considering the fact its merely trying to emulate the real thing is rather retarded. im sure i can make slayer sound better then someone that cant even play guitar. do you relise how many times ive gone to a club to listen to a freinds band play and there be sevral other bands and half of them cant even tune their ing instruments and much less play them.

its always better to record a real one..
anyway the slayer sound to elctronic
if u take the real guitar and put on him the guitar rig u can get some really great stuff cuase the guitar rig offers a lot of reall stuff that using in a real guitar recording like
difrents AMPS and Mics distortions and alot more...and its all very easy to modulate
thats one....

yyou can also get the Hanse zimmer Guitar pack which have a lot of convincing acoustic guitars
