But why write hate mail when you're not even a casual - let alone regular - listener? This didn't affect you AT ALL until you chose to poke your nose into it.

even you should agree that death of thousands and thousands of children should affect everybody, especially when somebody is making fun of that.

raveed i understand your anger, but dont let it consume you now. focus it and do something about them sick s. dont write them hate mail, they want it, they are making living out of it. take it to the next level and try your best to close them down.

im behind you 1.000 %

To add to that, I notice you feel it necessary to slander Canadians, Canada, and the Canadian government at every chance you get. I just don't understand. :conf:

Why do so many people here feel it necessary to slander Americans, the USA, and the American government every chance they get - and get on my case whenever I take an opposing viewpoint?

I got tired of the rhetoric long ago and I'm playing devil's advocate now. And Graham, I've already explained my reasons to you several times, so what is the point of this post - to score points off of me?

Canada deserves the slander more than the USA does. As Jay pointed out, the only thing worse than ignorance is ignorance AND arrogance.

That's exactly what I've been trying to say.

In no way am I making light of the tragedy, nor am I condoning the actions of those who would make light of it (make sure you read that, Xavier Moriarty).

My point is that none of you are accomplishing anything by foaming at the mouth - that is in fact exactly what this station WANTS. When you're dealing with people who are intentionally stirring up anger, the best thing you can do is keep your cool and quietly let them know the error of their ways. Emotion is a very powerful weapon - you blow your top, and you lose the battle.

Because ignorant anti-americanism is very popular these days. Does that justify you becoming the defender of American honour and integrity by relentlessly bashing everything that is Canadian?

Because you seem to have nothing but contempt for the country you live in. Obviously people living in that country are going to take offence and "get on your case" about it.

My agenda is and always has been to try and make Canadians more aware and less tolerant of our own political ups. In case you hadn't noticed, Canadians are a complicit and passive people when it comes to domestic politics, preferring to lay everything on the American scapegoat. I wasn't aware that I NEEDED a justification for carrying out that agenda.

The USA certainly has its share of -ups as well, but that's hardly the point here, and it's a stretch to refer to any of this as "defending American honour and integrity." And yes, people will take offense to what I say, no doubt about that, but there's no better way to stir up political awareness than stirring up emotions.

If you think I have nothing but contempt for this country, so be it. I wouldn't say that's true, although I certainly do have nothing but contempt for our current government, and really most of the Liberal governments we've had since Trudeau's. Whether or not that translates into contempt for my country, as you cal it, is up to interpretation.

Any other "tough questions"?

As I've told you before, you don't need to use a condescending tone in order for people to listen to you. As a matter of fact, all it does is makes people angry and the argument ends up in name calling.

There are many better ways to accomplish your agenda. Try to tone it down a few notches. Obviously you're doing something wrong when many people get very upset with your "contributions" in threads pertaining to Canada and the USA.

And as usual, you manage to find the subtle "condescending tone" in my posts while fully disregarding the vast amount of hate-filled rhetoric in the posts I responded to. I could post the exact same "condescending" stuff about Americans instead of Canadians and you wouldn't even notice.

Really? Seems to me that's a sign that I'm doing something right.

You don't get it, do you? When we sugar-coat our arguments, people don't listen. You HAVE to stir up emotions with these types of people.

I have no problem having civil debates with people who haven't already made up their minds to be s. If I'm condescending to the people who are already full of hate and irrational emotions, and they get upset, why the hell should I care?

And as usual, you justify your behavious with the actions of others you are so quick to make fun of. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Although I don't post in them, I read a lot of the political threads on TA. From what I see, it seems that often times you are the one who has made up your mind to be an .

Yes, some of these people are full of hate and irrational emotions, but you forget to mention the crucial step that leads them to this: your condescending.

There are 2 possible scenarios:

1. Someone is posting an ignorant or poorly supported argument and you rip into them. They then respond back with irrationality and hate at which point you act surprised and wonder why they do this. This is a trap you set up for many members on the forum. If someone has an argument that you don't agree with or that seems poorly supported, it doesn't give you the right to rip into people. It's almost as if you're giving off the message that people aren't worthy to argue with you.

2. Someone comes into the argument with irrationality and hatred at which point you (you guessed it) rip into them. There is no point in this. You don't fight fire with fire. All it results in is 10 pages of flaming and name calling.

The only thing you accomplish by doing what you have been doing is people assume you're an which we know is not true. I really don't understand what you get out of ripping into people like you do.

Look dude, quit being such a ball buster already. If you want to actually debate these issues then fine, but if you're just going to get personal about it and try to tell me what and what not to post then kindly off because you're being an , thanks. :)

I know what I'm doing. Your advice is duly noted, and there is no need for you to repeat it further, in this thread or others.
