I don't know how much this will cost but I'm getting one for sure!

If this comes in around $500 it's going to be a Final Scratch killer.

Keith, i know your thrilled about this mixer, but let me warn you, it only allows "internal" playback mode only. Meaning, you can't use turntables or cd decks to control the playback. You just use a mouse/kb to control the pitch, cue, and regular cd playback features. I know, i know, it sucks. What also sucks, the mp4 ships with ASIO drivers so you can use it with other audio programs. Currently ASIO drivers are not avaliable for the standard SSL hardware, which is making me beg on their boards for asio support.

And why would you want this mixer in the first place? i thought you had a ttm-56 or something.

Here's some more info directly from Rane

Rane MP4 mixer
The MP 4 is ideal for DJ's who want to mix and beat-match digital files along with analog sources, but don't require the ability to "scratch." Serato Scratch LIVE software is included, and features a new control screen for the MP 4. The Scratch LIVE MP 4 control screen has the same great library management and file handling features, without direct vinyl and CD manipulation. This means that there is no control vinyl or CD with the MP 4, and all control is via the new on-screen features such as pitch-bending and nudging.

Yeah I'm aware of the internal mixing requirments. I already have SSL and a 2016 but my goal isn't to live without them. What I like about this mixer is the compact size and simplicity. You could take this anywhere. As somebody that has to travel a lot of work it would be nice to have something this size to bring with me. I don't need to pack a bulky mixer, several RCAs, and the SSL box -- just this single piece.

Anyway I welcome the new mixer. Maybe they will add a 1U hardware control for the software side in the future.

hmmm this isnt so great.. especialyl for 500 bucks, id rather buy a proper copy of Serato Scratch.
if you just want an mp3 mixer/interface, you can get the Hercules DJ console, which maybe doesn't look as professional as this, but does the exact same thing for half the price.
