Now, this isn't my idea, but one I borrowed from another is trance dying thread. Trance is rapidly going downhill because no one is doing anything new. Anyone who can crack fruity loops, reason, cubase, logic, and other software can easily make tunes that sound just like the newest ASOT release. This leads to alot of tracks that sound the same. Additionally, many of these people using cracked software have no background in music theory, so they just copy melodies, tones, and keys from existing trance songs. This leads to even less diversity. Finayll, there has been a HUGE collection of midi packages circling the next for the last 3 years. This collection continuously grows and is chock full of "classics" (aka the everyone liked 4-7 years ago). Since many of today's producers cant develop a melody themselves, it's way to easy to make a drum line, develop a few generic sounds and throw them over an existing song's MIDI structure.

well ur talking about making new sounds... but i geuss ur right, the un educated all download the cracked version..... hehe
but still, im talking about just simple emotion, the simplest of songs, no more emotional songs are being made anymore,
for example:
sunrise at palamos (how simple is that????)
suburbain train
cosmic gate - exploration of space
rapid eye - circa forever

tunes like these, i want more!!! :D

The onyl emotion trance producers are currently interested in isn't an emotion at all.

This "emotion" is called money

True that, in a way I can't wait for some of the bigger name DJs to start to lose popularity as the new DJs come along - hopefully they'll go back to playing smaller clubs where money is no longer an issue - just the music

Just my wish! :D

sunquest, i couldn't agree more.

The other weekend, I went out to a club here in San Francisco, called Folsom 1015. Thrillseekers was on that night and I was so excited to see him because he put on the best live set of my life just 2 years ago at an annual rave here in California. That set was amazingly melodic and emotional, and had me dancing with my hands in the air for the whole time. He played stuff like Mike Shiver - Feelings, Sonorous - Protonic, Insigma - Avalon (Midway Remix), and so on. But this time, at Folsom 1015, he dissapointed me with his set. He started out decently, playing some melodic stuff. But then he turned to dark, hard prog. What the , Steve? I don't understand how you go from what you had 2 years ago to what you play now. The prog was the hard type where a harsh acid synth plays the same, 5-note sequence over and over again, and all that happens is drums develop and the synth's filter goes wild. But where did the melody - the emotion go?? I was disappointed to say the least.

More and more tracks are released on great trance labels that I listen to and just can't see what the hype is about. Just my 2 cents.

Stan.

Ah right, well to be honest I think the days of quality melodic trance are gone :sadgreen:

Back in the late 1990s, trance was new and producers had plenty of scope to create new tracks - new ideas etc. Now however, maybe that genre of EDM has been manipulated as much as possible... and we just have to move on

No it wasn't you ing moron. You eating piece of slime. Seriously. Get a mothering clue.

No offence. Hahahaa. I'm feeling giddy as a schoolgirl right now jeeves.

i'd say that this 'scope to create new tracks' really didn't matter
idk if you've noticed that there are still great new tracks coming out
just once a genre's been around for a while, then you can't just join the bandwagon and sound good anyomre
then you actually have to be creative and original, which is what everyone should be doing anyways!!!

I'm hooked in the trance scene for years now and i gotta say, its slowly dying :(
first of all, theres too much prog i think, and more and more coming out by the day, and no more melodic emotional trance? what happened? and dont tell me "it's gotten old and cheesy"
if i put on a track for you, say Rank 1 - Airwave for example, you wont go "o that sucks, that style is old and ty" :whip:
garunteed ull love it! atleast i know i always will
anyways, where are all the melodic trance producers gone to? dont let the trance die so soon, we only been alive for 10 years or so, its too soon ....

what to do? :conf:

I sure do, and I sure wish I would. Hahah. You crack me up jeeves.

Uh...for future reference, "taking the piss" out of someone has something to do with making fun of them right? I'm not "down" with this "British" hipster "slang". This guy didn't just "come" on to me did he? Really...I mean if not, this "guy" and I should get "together" some time.
