Advice on how to WMC properly...

We're in need of some direction...We've registered for the conference, and along with the package it is said to include reduced/free entrance to events.

I've spoken to a couple of friends who have gone to WMC a couple of times, but have not registered for the conference. They said that last year people were being turned away due to over capacity, even when they were on guestlist, etc. And that their advice was if you wanted to get into parties you had to go really early. My other friend told me to just show up for the DJ you'd like to see, and be prepared to cough up the money.

My question is, if we buy our tickets in advance- providing it's a possibility, are we assured entrance?

Or alternatively, if any of you can provide suggestions from your experiences. We'd greatly appreciate it.

We'd also love to hear from people who have attended the conference.

YAY!

well i would recomend a space pass, and your ultra ticket in advance if it isnt included in your package. just figure out what DJs you wanna see, and some of the shows might have presale tix.

and if you are only goin to WMC for the parties, you probably wasted some $$$ by registering for the conference.

if you havent gotten a hotel room yet i recomend someplace on biscayne blvd in downtown miami, close to ultra and close to space. you can stay on south beach but the rooms are more expensie and usually not as nice. there are still rooms available at the sheraton for less than $100 a night, and there will be a LOAD of TAs staying there.

other than that, plan on spending alot of money, bring sunblock, a bathing suit and mutiple pairs of sunglasses.

Just to clear something up:

The actual Winter Music Conference is a week long industry gathering, not any particular party/parties. There are panels and seminars and stuff like that. It probably wouldn't interest you unless you're in the industry or interested in getting into it (like I am, so I'm gonna check it out. It takes place during the day at the Wyndham Resort.

I guess that someone eventually realized "hey... we're all here, lets throw a load of parties!" Thus WMC the party week was born.

We're definitely interested in the industry stuff. It's a big reason we're going. Our hotel, flight, yada yada is taken care of. Our ultra tickets are included.

Will we get in with tickets for sure though? That's what our main concern is. I wouldn't be happy spending $50 and having someone tell me "sorry, we're over capacity...go home..." :(

Please tell me that's not the case. We're definitely prepared to spend the money in advance for tickets. :D

Huh???

There are really seminars and stuff???? So it is not just week where you do not eat and sleep? and it is not just a week where you can go see all your favorite Djs and maybe even chill with them on the beach.. who would have thunk it?:stongue: :stongue: :stongue:

If you get there early enough, you should be fine. No need to be there when the doors open, but don't press your luck. The door mafia tends not to give a sh*t if you're on the list...but if you have a ticket to a ticketed event, you should be fine. Just put the girls in front.

Space has proven to be a money hungry whore indeed. This year, if i can avoid Space, I will. The best parties need not be the largest
