since the super bowl is at hand in a couple of weeks, and andy reid finally making it to the super bowl after 4 tries in the nfc championship, let us name some coaches (i will let all coaches of all sports be named in this thread .. hehee) that have choked or can/will never win the BIG GAME .. BIG GAME = the super bowl .. the nba finals .. the world series .. the stanley cup .. any championship trophey ..

i will name some .. bud grant (minnesota vikings), marv levy (buffalo bills) .. lenny wilkins ( .. he's been everywhere .. i object to his all-time winning record .. i respect him coaching all those years, but come on .. his winning % is very low .. like 55% ??) ..

let's name some others ...

and p.s. -- no andy reid flames .. we cant say anything about him till after the super bowl for him .. :D

lenny wilkins won a title with the seattle supersonics in 1979, so he has to come off the list :p

as for coaches who can't win the big one:
Tony Dungy
Marty Schottenheimer

I know there are more
Eddie N MIAMI
coaches that have had a good track record but cant seem to win when it counts.
Bill Cowler - been to alot of AFC championships but only one superbowl and lost it.
Sam Whyche-lost to the 49ers in that famous last drive in superbowl 23
Dan Reeves-4 superbowl losses
George Allen - old redskins coach that lost to the dolphins in superbowl 7
Mike Martz-blew it against the Pats couple years ago, and has had trouble in the playoffs ever since
Rich Kotite............lol j/k :haha: i know jet fans dont like this guy
NBA
Don Nelson
Flip Saunders
Rick Adleman- 2 times went to finals with blazers and been close with the kings
Jerry Sloan

MLB
Dusty Baker

College Basketball
Roy Williams

thats all I can think of right now

Jerry Sloan <== hakeem, barkley, and jordan were all thorns on his foot .. hahhahaha ...

Roy Williams

goot notables .. yes sloan should have one a couple of championships, if it was not for hakeem and barkley continually beating them in the playoffs, and those two finals against the bulls ..

but yes .. roy williams seems to never get that shot at the title .. was he kansas' coach with danny manning back in like '87 or '88 .. or was that larry brown ?? or something like that ..

it was Larry Brown , who also took a while to win an NBA title till last year.
man Danny Manning was awesome, the main reason kansas won that title, but didnt do much in the NBA, very strange

he fell victim to being "the system" guy, rather than a good all-around athlete .. he was good in larry brown's system, but not good outside the system .. that's why larry brown is such as great coach .. he helps guys become better with his system ..

however, they did beat a great oklahoma team that had mookie blaylock, stacey king (well not great .. but he was good in the 'michael jordan system' .. hahhahaha .. ) , and harvey grant <== all nba starters ....
Eddie N MIAMI
so true about that system stuff in college.Produces alot of overated NBA draft picks, in the NFL as well

remember when Larry Brown actually led the clippers (the CLIPPERS!! ) to the playoffs, and I think Manning was on that team too lol.

hehe mookie, has always been one of my fave athletes names
