I would feed her large mice or small rats...She only ate once every 2-3 weeks...when she , it wasn't too bad. It wasn't hard to take care of her at all. :) She was very friendly and never bit anyone...I miss her...:(

Pythons generally don't bite... seeing how was they're constrictors and all. However, I plan on getting one when I move out.

i dont see why having a bearded lizard will be all that difficult, people keep skinks, snakes and all sorts of turtles that require specific reqs all the time...

most of your worries sound like basic pet care skills...i would say read up on the net or wherever you can find info, try to find someone whom has that pet. my cousin is crazy about this , he always has a new pet he wants, but after looking he is generally discouraged.

IMHO i think that a lizard is a bit different than a strange bird, dog or cat. ive checked a bit into Wolf Hybrids, Servals, Ravens, etal...mostly due to boredom, but also as i think it could be really fulfilling to have an interesting pet. its a load of work the more exotic - and the more expensive.

that being said, lizards shouldnt be a big deal, but at the same time if i got one itd likely be an iguana or something...its not bizarre, but you can at least learn from them and perhaps move on. my cousin looked into chameleons, which are pretty cool, but the males are expensive and females cheaps as:

they HAVE to be bred or they develop egglock and die,

the males are VERY aggressive, BUT can be handled(both sexes) but they live about a 1/4 of their lifespan due to stress.

which is why id get a lizard that is reasonably chill and sociable, ive seen an iguana on a leash for godsakes...

anyways that was long and ranting, but brings up some serious considerations|

good luck!

I did forget to mention that my sister had a snake, same species, but male. She fed him the WRONG WAY, by dropping the mice/rats into the tank where he lived, so he became aggresive and he bit me once.

It stung very briefly...not bad pain at all, I felt more (and bled) from a Cockatiel bite once. in' birdbrain. :whip:

Like I said, generally. Anything with a mouth is capable of biting. :p

guy at a party brought his burmese python with him and got to talking. he said he killed the rats himself (snap the neck), so it wouldnt infect the snake by biting or scratching it. i dont think i could do that. he also said that snakes have a very primative brain. if they dont see you for a few days they don't know you. if they get away they aint coming back. i guess its kinda obvious but we often forget and assume they sort of think like us. i've been always been a little scared they might strike when at my most vunerable (like near my face) but i'm sure i'd overcome that if i was in contact with it more often.

I have a family of chinchillas, they are great, probably not quite as exotic an animal as you have in mind though.

Ive had several small furry type pets but chinchillas are definately my favorite of them because they are so much fun.

My cousin's husband has chameleons' they are really cool but he has them in this expensive looking setup, not sure what it takes to raise those but it might take some $$$.

A lot of pet shops sell frozen mice/rats/crickets for people who have reptiles or spiders or scorpions.

well i have read up on it... what it needs to live as a habitat lighting tempeture and all that... i went to the pet store to even see how one is in real life... i asked all the genral questions so i know all the info...

see in windsor its against the law to sell reptails... so therefore i have to drive out of town to get its food... so thats my only concern... the whole setup, keeping it safe, clean, with proper habitat needs is ok, i'm fine with all that...

so all i'm asking is ppl's experiences and how it is to take care of a lizard...
