Well, I've 'played' with Vanguard and I've created some nice FX. Generally, how can I create a nice piano? |

Which section of presets it should be in?
I dont have 'Piano' presets, only 'Organs' |

To be honest FL Keys is not bad. Personally I use a HQ soundfont sampled from a real roland piano, but I've used Keys in the past with great results. It certainly sounds better than any piano you'll synthesize on the pro 53. |

you cant make decent piano sounds from a virtual analogue synth! i explained this elsewhere. if you want realistic acoustic sounds you need to get them from a sample playback synth or use a soundfont.
check out hammersound.net. get rgc: audio SfZ. download some piano soundfonts. thats the best you are gonna get for nothing mate. for real piano sounds i suggest a digital piano. or if you save up your pennies the forthcoming alesis fusion looks amazing. and it can do VA, FM and physical modelling on top. |

bull, piano is easy to emulate with lots of synths... ok its not perfect, but what is if you compare digital with the real thing. I once saw this plastic , it was like i was inside a georgeous girl (yeah yeah, eyes were closed) |

MDA Piano is good too, sounds nice, and is free i think. Or save up for Steinberg's 'The Grand'. |

oh its easy to emulate them. its far less convincing than any real or digital piano though. the best pianos are naturally the real things. but they are expensive. so the next best thing is to sample every key on a very expensive piano in a very expensive studio with very expensive recording equipment. and recording each note with multiple velocities, sustains etc etc. for free soundfont pianos are infinitely better than any freebie piano synth. the same apples for all natural acoustic instruments. you just cant beat the real thing. so sample it. or get a sample playback synth that has an incredible piano on it (alesis fusion. droooooool.) |

Yey! My first post!
I agree with Derivative. A piano sound is really complicated to emulate. As far as I know, the good piano sounds are hi-qual. samples. Steinberg The Grand is the best they say.
I sometimes use the freeware VST 4FrontPiano. Best free VST-piano out there. Loads of good SoundFonts too.
I have a KORG Karma which I sample a lot from.
Conclusion: You can't make a really good piano sound in Pro-53, you can make a simple synth-like piano sound, but not a real piano sound. If you want the real deal, then get some samples! :)
If you want a couple of good soundfonts, just PM me. |
