I fail to see what's so simple about the version on the G&D EM. It keeps fooling around with oodles of FX, breakdowns and crescendos till almost all the drive and focus is gone. The released version is far more focused and to the point, which is also the main reason why I like it.

Agreed and i think Josh thought the same thing, that's why he made a new version.
Blue.
I fell in love with the essential mix version I heard, although this new one is still good.

yeah, you can say all you want about confused FX and whatnot, but the original was powerful, and all the re-tooling has lost any soul that the song originally may have had...much like the story arc of much of GDs career. hearing the new version in a club just didnt have any punch, just all bass and nothing distinctive...

i still respect what they do, but it seems they are getting too comfortable with their sound in a way. everything seems a bit cookiecutter.

that being said i still look out for what comes in the future|

Couldn't agree more with what you just said. The sound they were really developing was genius when their essential mix came out, and now it seems like they have lost their way. I still greatly respect what they do, and wish I could have 1/2 the talent they possess, but I feel they have fallen into a comfortable niche and are no longer experimenting and creating tracks that really have a special feeling about them, and are instead turning out tracks that are uninventive and boring.

Agreed. The Essential Mix version was, in Gabriel's words, unfinished and it def sounded like it. The final version is MUCH better.

uh, the EM version was superior imo, the released version just seemed like he tried to do too much. greatness in simplicity
