Wow I have this 450 Meg video of Innercity TranceFest, it is so cool. You can clearly see people know how to party. If anyone has attended any of those annual events, get back
to me and tell me if it is really what it seems. |

Heys ... I'm not looking for any flamewars or anything, but judging by the videos I've seen and very few parties I've been to, European parties aren't all that people think they are. Most of them actually do have good music, but it gets old very fast, since there's only that many trance tracks one can play before sounding repetitive. Now, don't get me wrong, I ABSOLUTELY love trance, but there isn't all too much variety in the kind of trance played at larger parties (Europe or elsewhere) ... it's mostly the semi-comercial generic fluff people expect. Nobody has the creative freedom to play something harder or different from the usual tracks people expect. Why ? - because parties in Europe aren't about the music and the vibe anymore ... they have been taken over by the corporate world which caters to the mainstream masses ... and as we all know, mainstream masses aren't all too good in keeping an open mind towards new things (ie. music). I'm fairly sure that many DJs playing such parties would DIE to play a more innovative set - after all, innovation is what they did when they were just starting out, Paul van Dyk for example - yet in order to attract as many people as possible, their musical choice is limited and, after a while boring.
Another thing I noticed at larger gatherings is that the people are not there for the rave itself. I mean, very few people are actually dancing, many of them are liquored up. I remember seing way too many drunk people at Nature One 99 in Germany which (for me at least) really ruins the whole vibe of the party. The general population is more the bar-crowd than the actual ravers. Ok, I'm just rambling now, so I better get my point across ... if you want to see what a real party looks like and if you wish to meet some true partykidz and experience what the parties should ba all about, look for smaller, more intimate underground parties/raves/whatever with local DJs spinning. You'll be pleasently surprised.
And no, the Innercity/Gatecrasher/Ibiza people do NOT know how to party, sorry .
No hard feelings.

Doombringer, I never said anything about you personally ... I just stated that most ppl going to the Innercity / Sensation / Gatecrasher style events aren't necessarily the ones who respect the party. But again, I have been to only two parties in Europe (Germany) so i'm getting most of my impressions of the European parties from the videos I've seen, although i've heard from ppl I know back there that all the massives (ie. Mayday, Love Parade etc.) are having the same problem too. Very very different feel than the parties I'm used to, it is almost to be compared to a rock concert, just with electronic music - where people come to stand and look at the superstar DJ and worship whatever he may play.
I'm from Edmonton, AB, Canada in case you're wondering, and we still have something that halfway resembles a decent non-commercial partykid population. So yeah, actually the whole point of this is to try and tell ppl that there's more to raves than Innercity-style parties.

Yup true...
sorry , had a very bad day.
Most People that goes to partys are People who don't know the trance world... The atmosfere I mean...
they don't dance... they're only staring at the dancing people... that's very anoying...
but... when you go to more party's , you'll see that people are making groups of real trance lovers/party people (isn't important if they know eachother) and starting to dance in the group (atleast... that's what I see and do all the time).

WOW THERE MAN..... Are you sure of what yo've said? I mean.... I live in the USA, Miami FL.. and let me tell you... you guys in canada are much ahead than the USA rave scene... but you guys are also like a year older than what's up in Europe as a whole.. about the partys and stuff... they really know what PAARTING, RAVES, and the MUZIK is about.... a perfect example... for the summer seson kick off part that happened in Ireland, called HOMELANDS, it was raining.. poruing I would say.. terrible conditions for partying... mud everywhere, but did that stop 40,000 + ppl from dancing, haveing a good time and parting?? NOOO!!!! if that would ahve happend here in America, that party would have been cancel, secondly... they are the ones that are friking keeping up the party vibe worldwide.. since they are the ones that are coming up with all the GOOOD club tunes.. whether is Trance, House, Dream, Hi-nrg, Elctro and stuff like that.. they are the ones that have been keeping up with all the good DJ's.... as you can also see.... INNERCITY event is an EXAMPLE for what raves should be here in AMERICA.. you don't see ppls rolling thir heads off, like you see here.. Ibiza is bad MADNESS for parting, so is LOVE PARADE.. and the clubs that stand up for the best reputation with each other.. and in which you would really feel the love, respect with each other is GATECRASHER..there you will really get the XTC with the muzik....and in EUROPE as a whole you'll get party madness... here in America.... ppls go for the DRUGS... which kills the scene.... I dunno about Canada, although Canada is more European oriented so that's why you guys are much ahead of us !

I must say I agree whit skywarp, huge partys arent like the small ones, it kinda looks, feels and sounds comercial. I remember back in 91 when houseculture was "brand" new in Europe, we used to party at small clubs or even better, in shut down factories and warehouses. Wow, I still remember the first time I heard LA Style - James Brown is dead. It sound silly now, but then it was like the hardest, fastest and coolest tune ever made! LOL! Or when the gabber style started to roll out of Rotterdam!!! My head could only take a track or two of that before I needed to cool down. But when you go to a big party whit superstar Dj's, you know what you get, at a smaller party whit local Dj's, its hardly never the same, and its only people from the hard core that goes there, people whit respect for the DJ and the music.
Whit all the respect (HEHE)

LiquidXtrance...
We're SO spoiled in Holland... there's a big , and I mean BIG 20.000+ Ppl , every 3 months... or even less.
Hehe... but I don't care if they're To commercial... I'm going for the music... and to dance... I don't care if I'm the only one on the dance floor... as long as I have a good time
But Skywarp is right at one point... that's that there are too many "wrong" People on the party's... But then again... everyone can go to the party's , but it's wierd to see wrong people at the wrong place.
