Professors talking about politics

Why do they do it when they shouldn't? Why is a biology professor making comments about the president and the war when she should be talking about her field of expertise? I don't get it. I think this will be a LONG and stressful semester if all my professors keep doing this.
I really feel for those like me.
Bush should have lost this past election. With Bush out of office many professors would have nothing to say about politics during lecture. |

no, they would be talking about how ineffective kerry is.
One thing profs learn is to critically think, that means tearing apart everything and anything at its worst points. they are good at it, but the only thing is they don't know when to stfu.
if it was a prof in class go to the dean. They should not be injecting their political view on students. Its unethical. |

I'll give them one more week. Maybe some of them don't know what to talk about since it's the beginning of the semester. Who knows.

| I dropped 2 classes because of this. And I told the profs it was because im paying thousands of dollars to learn something not give them someone to preach to off a soapbox. in pissed me off. |

| I don't know, I really find it interesting when my proffessors talk about politics just to hear their point, especially when it's a philosophy or history teacher. But this is just my opinion... |

Because they're idiots. Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.
If the prof is useless then it's a perfect excuse to skip class. Worked for me anyway. Good luck. |

That's a good point. But it isn't always the case. It depends on the professor too.
History relates to politics. It is acceptable for professors to make comparisons of govts. and issues of the past with the current ones. But they should not voice their opinion. Some manage to make comparisons and put in their beliefs. Others don't. I've had good professors that time after time made the best of comparisons leaving their beliefs and political views out.
The same goes for philosophy and other subjects. The personal opinion should be left out. When any given professor makes a comment about her/his disapproval for a certain president, let's use Bush as an example, when she/he should be talking about a science like physics or biology, it makes her/him look bad and it upsets some students.

Last year my philosophy teacher was an ex-hippie, I could sooooo tel by the way he mentioned some things.
This year my history teacher is this really old guy who constantly complains about the gov't being stupid and such.
I like when they talk about all that politica stuff, usualy they have a much better idea of what is going on than I do cuz I don't have the time to keep up with it very well.
Most of my teachers have whined about the gov't this sememster, there are more that talk about it here than there are that don't |
