Being a ninja, I thought all you had to do was to hide and listen to the locals talking about where the clubs are.
Wait, you're in the navy? Ninjas don't go the sea. You're not a ninja, you're a lying pirate! :whip: |

Theres a scene, but its still quite small considering japans size.
The stuff they do have seems to be either 100% quality dance tunes (not dance/listening tunes in fact alot of it has a "cheesy" sound to it, but it works) or else its abstract stuff.
Clubs I can think off the top of my head would be CODE, Wire 02, Ageha, Byblos, Loop...I think most of these are in tokyo though... |

| If you're in Tokyo, check out Velfarre (in Roppongi district). Heard it's one of the biggest and the best dance clubs. Saturday's all trance (and Sunday too, I think). |

The scene is huge but it's mostly psy/goa trance/techno - i think it's a cultural thing, the music is the accompaniment to the drugs, not the drugs the accompaniment to the music. uplifting trance doesn't even exist here except at Velfarre in Roppongi. I've seen heaps of marines, airforce and navy guys at parties but i haven't been recently since i moved up north. One guy used to do the decorating for parties - he would string up flourescent string in huge geomtric patterns from the roof and then shine UV blacklights on them. Quite a trippy effect when u're wasted.
here's some sites to help u find some parties.
www.solstice23.com
www.visionquest-tokyo.com
www.trancejapan.com
hope that helps ya.
BTW Solstice are the ones who put on the huge (we're talking tens of thousands of people) parties at the base of mount fuji. Definately a must while u're around in Yokosuka cos it's a only a few hours drive. |

thanks I could use this info also.
I have been making some japanese friends lately, and really I havn't met a single person that listens to trance, or goes to trance nightclubs. It seems like everyone is into hiphop there :( |

Ask them what soul scream is. That will help you understand. |
