LOL i printed and read it... It's pretty messed up what happens to people once they come into so much money. I feel sorry for the grand daughter and her other friend the most. It's so sad to see lives wasted like that, she was way too young to die :(

Richard Hatch Fails To Report $1M 'Survivor' Jackpot

POSTED: 1:04 pm EST January 18, 2005

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- "Survivor" winner and Rhode Island resident Richard Hatch has been charged with filing a false income tax return.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Hatch omitted on his tax form more than $1 million that he received as winnings from the reality show.

Richard Hatch also is accused of failing to report about $321,000 paid to him for appearances on Boston radio station WQSX-FM.

Federal prosecutors in Providence said the 43-year-old Hatch filed false income tax returns for the 2000 and 2001 tax years that did not show those earnings. An arraignment has been scheduled for Monday in U.S. District Court in Providence.

A message left at Hatch's Newport home was not immediately returned Tuesday.

The "Survivor" star faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge.

Hatch became a millionaire when he won the first-ever "Survivor" reality show in August 2000.

There's an old saying that says:

"You can take a girl out of Brooklyn, but you can't take Brooklyn out of the girl" ;)

Or as they said about Britney

"You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl" :happy2:

Funny how everybody here lays shame and blame on the guy who won and spent it poorly, but not on all the s who decided they deserved a piece and would stoop to any level to get it.

The jealous dicks in this article who decided THEY wanted to spend Jack's money apparently caused a lot more problems than Jack himself. Sure, he was a dumbass, but if you find yourself wondering why money gets to people's heads, think of what it would be like to have 100 letters in your mailbox every day, hundreds of people in the streets either begging or robbing you, and thousands more making "recommendations" to you on whatever you haven't already been bilked out of.

His mistake was attracting publicity over the money he won. A smart person would probably change his name after winning that much, not to mention hire some good lawyers and security, and a public relations officer to convince everyone that it was someone else who won the lottery.

I agree with DigiNut in a way.....I am not saying the guy isn't to blame for using his $ so frivilously, but the people around him didn't help the situation. It's sad what $ can do to people

He still offered women thousands of dollars to take their clothes off!! (and I'm not talking about the strippers...) That's not due to pressure from the public or people in the streets bugging him. That's due to his own corrupt morals.

Normal people don't do that kinda stuff... this jackass just threw away all of his morals and values as soon as he won the money.

His grand-daughter too... as soon as she had the freedom to do so, she just gave up everything and turned into a piece of waste. I have no sympathy for people like that (and she didn't have the same kind of pressures that Jack did).

Every human being is inherantly selfish. We act nicely to others because it is of benefit to ourselves in the end. We give money to charities because it makes us feel good about ourselves or look good to others. When this guy won the lottery, he didn't really need anything else, just like Brandi the drug addict. Since the source of the money wasn't ongoing, Jack could just do whatever the hell he felt like. If Britney Spears acted outta line, people would find out and her career would be over, resulting in no more $$ for her. Jack can act outta line as much as he pleases, because there's no more $$ for him anyway (ie there is no selfish motivation for him to be a nice person. That's why lottery winners are always corrupted, unless they have very very strong morals to begin with.
