Best reverb for my vocals? (software)

Hello All,
I own ProTools (Digi 002) and also got the latest Waves plugins. One thing I want to know which one would be the best reverb (software) for my vocals? I think I have RVerb, DVerb, and True Verb etc.. Which one do I choose and what setting do I put to have the best sounding trance vocal reverb? Anything I choose just does not sound trancy enough...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

From those I would use True Verb, although some say RVerb is better sounding. But the best software reverb I've heard so far, is Ambience. It's heavy on the CPU, so you might not be able to use many instances. |

Thank you man! Great info. Another question: I see so many presets on those reverbs (algorithms: Plate, Large Hall, ResoVerb, Gated, Church, chanmer, no-linear blah blah)
What setting should I use for trance vocals? Any advie would be appreciated.. For example how much dry/wet, diffusion, pre-delay and all these params that come with reverbs...
Thanks!!

Well you can't ask US that...that's completely up to you!? How much sugar should I put in your coffee? How much salt should I put on my french fries? I mean, it's totally subjective, and every song you'll hear uses different settings and tries different parameters...that's what creative difference in music is all about.
In many regards, that's what defines certain artists... they are identified by their own unique way of tweaking certain things, reverb included!
Basically, lay down a dry vocal.... test it with whatever preset you want...and begin applying small changes so that you can hear what happens when each knob is tweaked. If you really like the triple-tap-delay that pans from Left-Centre-Right...then use it. You'll never get 100% of listeners saying, hey thats perfect reverb! Someone will always say..."Dude, you shoulda made it drier/louder/further...":thepirate |

Thanks,
I am still trying to figure out the perfect trance reverb for vocals. What bugs me is that sometimes the reverb sounds too much like it's in a room and not trancy..
Some of the reverbs I like are from the songs:
The Joker - Release Me
Tukan - Light a Rainbow
Any ideas??
Thanks again!

its free! first thing thats perfect about it! second is its impulse reverb which means most of the reverbs for it are obtained from the actual impulse response of sounds reverberating in reallife spaces like churches and stuff! 3rd (and the jewel in the crown in my opinion) has to be the number of quality lexicon and hardware reverb impulses that have been made for this thing (ported straight from the hardware). in particular the oh so famous PCM-91! 4th point is just here to emphasise just how sweet this deal is - all the impulses for it are free too. get the extra impulses from noise vault and echo chamber. ive plugged SIR in this forum before and provided links to get all this stuff here so you might wanna use 'search.'
a couple of things though (that make it a little less perfect than it could be) - CPU load can get quite high. theres a permanent latency of 896 samples (or something like that) on everything that uses it so you'll have to render and cut the beginning off the waveform. unless you have latency compensation in your sequencer. |

As an addendum to Derivative's suggestion of convolution reverbs, check out www.noisevault.com for some nice impulses for use in SIR. |
