Thank you for the help with the Quotes thing,
oh and I know Tiesto makes studio mixes, and I know that in search for sunrise is a studio mix, that is why i did not make refference to it in my previous post =)
Paul Van Dyk is awesome, that is the bottom line, I respect his style and do not think that the fact his POD CDs are studio made affects it's message or validity.
Anyone who knows anything about Trance knows pvd can mix live just as well =) |

PVD has done it again! This is the syntheses of everything of good that I've heard on his live sets, only mixed together in two cds. The studio treatment really makes a difference. and Dreamland is the best track!!!!!!!!!!!

For a man of such respectable fame and experience, PvD's shy musings about his DJ career and the trance culture (found in the CD booklet) sound a little silly and insincere.
I find it strange how he always emphasizes that he can't really express himself as a DJ unless there's a crowd in front of him, and that's why recording in the studio was difficult for him. This is simply stupid. A DJ expresses himself by his mix, by choosing a mood, or an atmosphere, carefully selecting the rights tracks that fit that mood and planning how they will sound, and mixing them with an artistic touch. Who said it's always necessary to have a crowd in front of you in order to make a good and pleasing mix? This is absurd!! A DJ mix can also be a reflection of how you feel, how you perceive life. And what's with the apologetic "this is actually my first mixed CD" -- I mean really, you're the most influential and experienced DJ (and a millionaire at that) for God's sakes!
Next he starts sounding intelligent by talking about the club/trance culture. "We have forgotten," he writes, "that this is NOT just about dancing. There's more to it. There is a global youth culture." He concludes his essay by saying "Whatever, it's all just about dancing." Huh?
Somebody above said that "Dreamland" is the best track.. I agree with that, but if, from so many progressive and ambient cuts and tracks, you chose the one with an uplifting/epic sound and build-ups and all that, what does that say about the OTHER genre you all claim to love so much... and the one mostly represented on this CD? |

listen to your self i think ur just bashin pvd just to bash him..nothing u said made one any sense.mayb ur just finding any lame excuses to bash on him ..come on dont be pathetic. first u said "A DJ mix can also be a reflection of how you feel" Come on listen to ur self....first paul was talking about himself and this is the way he feels he doesnt put down anyone elses cds he just telling everyone about how he felt in making his own cd...... and hes right a cd will never get the aspect of the live crowd ...djing is part mindreading and knowing what the crowd is feeling...... thats why u can listen to a set live and say wow this is amazing when your there but listen to the same set mayb at home on a boring evening or something it might be dull....thats what he ment ... djing is a art and not every set is sutable for everyone and everytime thats why the best djs read crowds to feel what they are feeling and what should be played....and u trying to down him for talking about the culture of clubbing and what it means .....bro hes been into the scene when u were still in diapers .. so dont put him down cuz hes seen more then ull ever seen in the culture....let me quote u " this is absurd!!" hmmm after reading ur post and seeing how big of a deal u make about something so small all have to say ur post is absurd and pointless!:whip: :toothless
ohh yeah one more thing ur signature shows me thatu need to stop looking at things negatively....signature something that reflects u and u bring up the songs u dont lik shows me u think way more negatively then positively on things....all i have to say be more positive mayb put the songs u do like on the signature rather then the songs u dont like ..make more sense |

| Big PVD fan and I enjoyed the CD. I must say I was a little up set with the fact that all these tracks have been pretty much been being played for some time on dance floors coast to coast. So there was no real big supprises. |

someone said most every mix is done in the studio without turntables, but i remember reading a tiesto interview, he said all his mix cds were live in turntables, i forgot what reason he said, but he said all were live mixes on tables

| All I got to say is that if you think mix CD's are put toghther with Computers your sadly mistaken. Grant it there are some who do it. But most are mixed with tables, at least the people I know. And they run the mix threw those computer programs you all talk about to take out the little imperfections such as : needle noise, sound levels fom record to record and other imperfections. At least this is what DJ's I know do. But it is possabile to mix a cd with these computer programs BT's renisance Singapore is done like that but he also tells you on the cover. |

| When I heard these cd's I admit that I do like them a lot, and they make me even more of a PVD fan, but in my personal opinion, the live set that he did at Knebworth, which contained many of the same songs, was done better than the cd. Once I saw that Sipping Soma - Superconcious was on their, I instantly skipped right to that track. (I LOVED this track in his knebworth set) but it turned out that it didn't sound nearly as good to me as it did at knebworth. Ok I know I'm just picking on one song, but I have reasons to say it's not the best trance set ever no matter how small the complaints are. Rapture didn't sound as good to me as it did in the live set. And, in my opinion, many of the songs were good, but not really any favorites of my own. Hehe maybe I'm just picky about my trance music, but hey, what sounds real good to you may not be so hot for me. |
