Nightclubs in Stockholm

Hi there!

My name is Xavier and I came here to ask the locals about their country and even more so, their capital city, Stockholm.

I'm planning a trip to Stockholm with some friends in the beginning of August and there are two things that I'd like to know.
First thing is: how old do you have to be to drink alcohol? And how old do you have to be to go to nightclubs?

Second thing: What are the nightclubs that me and my friends ceartenly have to visit? We prefer Techno, Trance, Progressive, Groove (in wide terms)...

And one last thing: are there other things we ceartenly have to do or take notice of? Are there after-hours bars with chilled/loungy music.. Are there any warming-up bars? Is there some kind of vinyl shop we ceartenly have to visit...

Your help is very much appreciated!

Xavier,
straight from Belgium to Stockholm and, hopefully to where you will sens my friends & I!

there are no regular EDM clubs right now.. check out mondaybar.com & fokused.net for current events.

u have to be 18-20 to enter most clubs, and 18 to drink alcohol in clubs respectively 20 to buy alcohol outside clubs. You can buy up to 3.5% alcoholic beverages if you are 18+.

Thanks a lot already! But what do you mean by EDM clubs?

another job for Steve, our Stockholm clublife specialist ;)

I can agree with the above statements though. www.mondaybar.com and www.fokused.net are the guys who mainly organize parties with electronic music in the Stockholm area. you have to be at least 18 years to enter a club, but some clubs have even higher age limits.

To buy alcohol in clubs you have to be 18 or more. Beer is sold in regular shops but any other form of alcohol (wine, spirits etc) is sold in special licure stores called "Systembolaget" only, and you have to be 20 or more to buy there.

enjoy your stay :)

thx 4 the info! I'm really looking forward to this already :)..

Any tips on where we would best find a hotel somewhere? (I've already been searching google and some sites but hey... Info straight from the locales is usually a lot better!)

I've never been to Stockholm so I can't help you on that point :toothless but there's a site called www.bookings.net (actually I think it's a belgian site!) with lots of info about hotels in Europe's larger cities, including Stockholm :)
