we have alternating years. 2003 was very hot & dry from May-September with way below average rainfall and temperatures in the Mid20s for long periods, peaking at about 38c for August. It was really humid and an awful heat to be around in, not like the dry heat I'm used to when I goto the Canary Islands or Med.

2004 was a washout, 2-3 times each months average rainfall and apart from 2 weeks in september which reached the high 20s-early 30s, temps were mainly 18-20c and it was a bit of a downer.

However anybody planning to visit this year, it should be a hot one (by our standards) and well worth it, but they reckon the alternation of years means that 2006 will be poor for anyone saving for that :p

could be wrong but it pretty much does go -good-bad-good-bad :)

haha yeah, they do make a big deal about it. I can always remember when I was about 9 or 10 seeing a copy of the newspaper saying "99F" in huge A4 sized letters with nothing else apart from the papers name on the front of it :p (infact 2003 was the first summer to get near to 100f since 1990:p)
