Producers need DJs just as much as DJs need producers...I don't think Fred Baker understands this.

Both coexist. Without producers, there would be no tracks. Without DJ's, there wouldn't be 6 hour sets that melt into a single, flowing track that spans genres and timelines, and quite often, there would be hundreds and thousands of good tracks that would have otherwise gone unheard.

And if you want to get technical, if there were no sound engineers making these weird boxes and keyboards, there would be no electronic music in the first place, and we'd all be banging sticks and plucking strings.

My point is, music is music. DJ'ing and producing are two different ways of bringing that music across to the people.

what are you talking about?

you may want to read what fred said again...

Geert Huinink has been one of the best producers for the last 5 years, yet he has had very little recognition for his work. There havent been too many of Geerts productions that Tiesto hasnt ever played. Even the early Magik series contained numerous Geert productions.

kai tracid (macdonald) has done this for years too. and i know he's famous on his own anyway but he has made many tracks on the tracid traxxx label that have gone under other peoples names like warmduscher.

and yeah some people need to read the point fred is making as hes not talking about djs taking credit but other producers ;)

Fred: Of course, I’m a DJ since 16 years… the problem is that I made all the stuff for people not able to produce or compose something and I was always in the shadow to help them without any “thanks” … But now I am finished with that stuff !!

He is clearly talking about MR SAM.
There are a thread I started about this:

I also thought he might be talking about other producers taking credit for his work, but he clearly refers to DJs not producing...if not, then why would he bring it up after the "are u also a DJ" question?

It seems to me his agenda is quite clear. He doesn't really care to go into depth about his DJing, he just wants to take a rightly-deserved shot at Mr. Sam for taking credit for his work.

i don't know, most of these interviews are done online, or better yet simply mic recorded. maybe it was just a long pause or thats how he typed it. doesn't necessarily mean part of the quote was left out

I said this once too, and I got slayed by the TA Tracid Traxxx Elite Corps that it wasn't the truth. But still when I look at the credits from Warmduscher-tracks I don't see Ellrich's name mentioned only Kai MacDonald....while Ellrich is the one appearing on the stage when I see Warmduscher live . :conf:
