If your friend, at our age, is getting a new M3, I would like to have a word with him, involving a bat.

I currently drive an older model 5-series.

It's a decent car. However, overall, I think BMW is overrated.

Consider this: in Europe, many police departments use BMW's as police cruisers.

:wtf:

I'm a big BMW fan...but not so much the lower models. For the price of a 330i, I'd definitely go with a G35 instead ;)

Hahah. The '05 G35 Coupe has 300 horsepower, just like the mustang. It also weighs less and has, you know, a modern suspension.

LOL LIVE AXLE LOL

I'll let the numbers talk.

Mustang GT 2005
0-60mph: 5.2 sec
0-100 mph: 13.2 sec
300 bhp @ 6000 rpm
315 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm

Infiniti G35 2004
0-60 mph: 6.0 sec
0-100 mph: 15.1 sec
Horsepower: 298 @ 6,400 RPM (automatic is 280hp)
Torque: 260 lb-ft @ 4,800 RPM (automatic is 270lb)

The Saleen version of the Mustang should be out very soon, at around the same price of a G35, you get a 400 hp Mustang... and a muscle car that looks like one.

The only thing that looks new about this generation is a lower front profile (which was mandated by Transport Canada to reduce pedi-death).

Stats on powertrain?

Well, I just did some research on the new M3. That photo up there is a fake from a german car magazine. Pure photoshop.

Apparently, the next generation M3 will be fitted with a V8 engine that is derived from the M5's V10. It'll have 450 horsepower with a 7 speed SMG tranny. Supposed to come out Fall 2006 for the 2007 model year line. And is said to be priced around $70 000 USD (it's around $70 K canadian now).

I'm gonna tell my buddy this. Hopefully he'll opt for the newer one, if so, I'm gonna tell him to put his deposit down now, so he'll be the firs to get one, then I'm calling PERMANENT SHOTGUN!!

The only thing the Mustang will beat the G35 Coupe in is a straight line. Take these to the twisties - live axle will lose every time.

Oh yeah, did I mention the Mustang's subpar build quality?

Also, Karim, I have serious doubts about your friend being able to handle a car with 450 horsepower and obvious gobs of torque to go along with it. I really suggest he take all 3 stages of BMW's advanced driver training so he can get a feel for it.
