Im sick of people who think that their linear family model of life should be applied to all of society.

Jay, care to extrapolate for a moment?

What if I'm a dad, and abusing my child is part of my "family model of life"?

There needs to be guidelines and restrictions on some things. Sometimes I think you are actually, deep down, advocating complete anarchy.

how does abusing kids relate to having a beer at a pub at 5 am?

Sheesh!!
Skipper
well how does having a beer at a pub at 5am relate to someone's idea of a family model of life?

I think that if you're a drunk...you're a drunk...doesn't matter if it's 2am or 5am or 10pm...you're still a drunk...you can come home and continue drinking after 2am too...I really don't think that "last call" has anything to do with that issue (of child abuse and etc...)

I think the worst part about last call is the fact that it means the party will be over shortly and ppl will get kicked out. I dont terribly mind stopping at 2am, but the fact that i'm gonna have to leave in 30-40 minutes is upsetting :)

bottom line, toronto sucks and needs to grow up, excuse my opinion, hate me if u want to, but its pathetic the rules we have here, everything closes at 11pm!!! and i mean EVERYTHING
for **** sake, second cup closes at 11 pm, resteraunts, etc...

like compare this city to montreal, montreal everything closes at 5 am the EARLIEst , people know how to have fun there,
over here in Toronto, i cant go have a cup of coffee with a friend after 12 am, like WTF!!! cant get alcohol after 10 pm! unless its a bar, but bah bars...
and people are like machines here, sleep 12 am, wake up 6 am, go work 8 am, close work 10 pm, go sleep 12 am. repeat. weekends too.
it just gets to me, u wonder why tourists dont like it here, because its sooooo boring
:whip: :whip: it just gets to me
Funkyfun
Nice.....Wish something similar to this could be introduced here

another thing this country needs to learn from the brits is to allow drinking outdoors and to allow liqour stores to be open after 9 pm ... maybe it doesnt promote a good quality of life but atleast it doenst put any sort of repression on people ...i dont like the idea of always having my drinks indoors especially on warm sunny days no matter how rare they are

Personally speaking, I like last call at 2am. No one needs to be drinking past 2am -

Bah...you can always just got home at 2am. When I get off work at 11 or 12pm on a weekend night, I hate getting to the bar and only have an hour and a half to tie one on. I'd rather be able to stay and have a few more (at a slower pace) until I feel like going home. Try going to Spain or Greece where there are no "last calls". People are so much more relaxed and I saw waaaay less fights in bars there than I usually do here.

EDIT: That said...England need to ing modernise already! 11pm is the cut off for pubs and bars? Christ. I haven't been since 99 and I was only 16 then and not terribly interested in drinking or clubbing. But I'm heading over in August and plan to experience the "british booze culture" to my highest ability.;) I love the British but that is thoroughly disappointing of them.:(
