Just curious as to what Househeadz, Trance Minions and Robotic Technoheads were rocking to prior to EDM.

Personally I was listening to Punk, namely 77 style, (The Clash, The Vibrators, etc.)

You know you weren't born an EDM addict, so speak the f00k up.

I never really had a musical preference before EDM. I only owned a few hip hop CD's, and the Matrix soundtrack.:p Pretty much only listened to the radio, or whatever CD's my friends had.

i was devouring every type of music i could get my hands on, discovering stuff my parents and their parents listened to (Leadbelly, Led Zepplin) to classical music and rap, (Tupac to Bethoven) and everything in-between (bob marley to Grateful Dead.

but once i was exposed to EDM, that was it, i never bought another CD of crap you can hear on the radio 100 times in one day.

i still liked live Dead, i guess thier shows made up for all the raves i missed as a kid. and im kicking myself for missing Bonaroo, AGAIN!

btw, i WAS born addicted to EDM, it just took me 19 years to find it...

My first CD was INXS, and kinda liked a combination of music until I got fully committed to edm...

mainly rap and hip hop because thats what most people listened to, but that got old and thankfully someone got me to listen to trance.

i listened to the synth pop definitely!!! i love old disco and 80's music.

it's all about the euro big synth eighties band hahaa :p

and if i wasn't listening to that kinda stuff...i listened to Tori Amos, Bjork, The Cardigans, Garbage, U2, etc etc...

i think the transition to trance and EDM in general is pretty obvious coming from those roots...

Punk rock with a little bit of metal and "normal" rock thrown in.

I used to listen to it in a big way, especially bands like NOFX, Pennywise, Incubus, Millencolin and the Vandals.

My dad raised me mostly on Joy Division, Led Zepellin, The Cure, Depeche Mode and the Mondays.
Then when Ian Curtis died and Joy Division became New Order, it all changed...

Spartan
before trance it was Eve 6, 3eb, Live, Gin Blossoms, Better than Ezra, etc. and all the other alternative bands of the late nineties.

I'm also a huge country and classic rock fan.

If I don't mix things up I'd go crazy.
Gordy
mostly alternative
