So, all of his thinly-reasoned argument and knocking down of rhetorical straw men is really about the fact that Canada isn't sufficiently dominated by wack-job religious crazies to satisfy him. |
Yet it's Ontario that's getting Sharia law, not the U.S.
....then again to self-haters like yourself, other religions are ok, but Christianity is bad.
 |

thats a pretty stupid opinion, if you havent even been there, and have no intention to go there, how can you say that it is so bad? There is more than the government to a country. |

yes but when the first thing you see while going to the US is the government (border) and they are ass holes...that doesnt give you much hope....
i myself will not go to the US for as long as i dont have to. And to be honest, its because of their 'anti terrorist' laws. they harass anybody remotely fitting a loose discription, and i (a brown person) will not subject myself to that.
if they can scream equality and democracy and freedom, but then scrutinize anybody from a single race...i can call them MORONS.
Yes there is more to a country than its government, but what happens when we cant even get into the country to see that 'more'? |

I never have any problems getting into the US...If anything the border guards have been nothing but friendly to me every time. In fact I love going to Buffalo once in a while to do some shopping...always have a pleasant experience. New York City (Manhattan) is like Disneyworld for me lol...I've never been to Disneyworld but it's almost like my "playground".
It's stupid to hate an entire country because of what some people say don't you think? They have their own problems but so do we. Same in every country really. |

im personally upset because so many of my family members have been harrassed, getting into and out of the country(U.S.)
after 911, my cousin who was studying at Princton, had to come back to Canada, because he was getting harrassed too much from people there. And those are educated university people:whip:
the kicker is, on the way to Canada, the border guards were giving him a hard time because he was wearing a turban. But did the guard bother to ask if he was Sikh(hindu), and not Muslim? nope. I am Indian, and its amazing how many of my family members have been harassed.
when i hear better things about the border, then i will cosnider going. |

Well yeah that could definitely be a problem. But then again everyone's paranoid after the whole 9-11 deal.
Personally though if anything I am having many problems coming back to Canada. Not problems but...it's just annoying. Our own border people are usually either really bitchy and annoying or just simply don't even care. And then I have to pay to get into my own country...WTF? 3.50 CAD or 2.50 USD...thanks very much! I know it's not a lot of money but just out of principle...it pissed me off. |

When will Canadians realize that we shouldnt define ourselves or our identity on how we contrast from the states.
I know what it means to me to be a Canadian and its not by way of bashing the americans or comparing us to them.
Retards..... |

Hey that's actually true...good point.
but then again they are attached to us. I'm sure if we were attached to some other country we'd be comparing ourselves to them too |

well its not neccessarily that we define ourselves by our relationship...but its just very natural to compare and contrast, its human behaviour. I think its usefull. We can see where they go wrong, and they can see where we go wrong.
I in no way think Canada is good, because its better. I think Canada is great, because i feel so comfortable here, and i can live the life i want to live.
and remember the title was 'CDN vs USA' not 'is canada great?' so there has to be some comparing going on ;) |
