hey z,

i listened to it... and from just working for 2 months... thats actually pretty good. i guess the kick needs reworking, and you need a bassline. also the hi hats are just really weak sounding. one really important thing to do (imo) is to listen to professional tracks and compare what they have and what your missing. thats what andy and i do alot when we get stuck while working on our stuff. we wont necessarily imitate, but we find out what we need. for now, i think you should just focus on makign the kick better, make a nice bassline, get better samples for the hi hats (try compressing the percussion, that might help). also try to make the percussion build in levels. so that the further into the song, the more levels and layers there are. helps build more energy that way. keep up the good work... =)

i think if u go to the production studio forum.. there should be a bunch of tutorials or other threads about basslines..

What do you use to produce your tracks?
trancinchink
Logic 5.5.1

its basically the highest version available for pc. Its pretty popular for production and basically does everything protools can do but easier and better (imo). If you wanna copy... lemme know. I can send it to you.

hehe... hardly ever c girls trying to produce... be nice to c some for a change...

first off, excellent job on it, very commendable first attempt... i'll get to analyzing it in a moment but first off juss wanna say the important stuff...

try to learn as much as u can... wealth of info on the net...

u get better with each track u make... garanteed...

even so... it'll take a while before u get good... its a tough road but if u can hold out long enough... it'll pay off... (i hope anyways haha)

anyways as far as the track, a good percussive groove, kick and bassline is essential to a track... it's the basic foundation of it...

ur missing sweeps, crashes, sfx, ambience, dat type of stuff... but dat all comes together the more u produce...

as far as sound quality is concerned... its a long story dat i can't juss tell u from here... a good kick is hard to come by... compression, eq, layering etc. etc... i'm sure u can find stuff in the forums on dat...

bassline... well, a good bassline is absolutely essential... sets the mood for track especially when it starts shifting... a general starting point is a bass note on every upbeat... dats the most basic of basslines... u may wanna try adding stereo delays or adding more notes such and such... experiment a bit...

i dunno i think everyone else has covered most of wut u need... there's really not much else i can tell u except keep learn, experiment and keep writing... dats all there is too it...

pm hai lee if u need anything else... i wouldn't suggest using logic just yet... u should learn fruity well enough before u start tackling other sequencers... logic will be totally confusing to u if u dunt kno wut ur doing...

anyways, hope this helped... one

I use logic 7 on a mac. some things i wish logic had

1) sample accurate editing in arrange window like protools
2) plug in delay compensation
3) real time elastic audio

other than those few things and a few kinks logic is a amazing program...

I am definetly doing research now on the boards as well as the net and getting all the samples and extras I can get. I will hang in there, although at times it gets frustrating I am definetly determined to make something at least decent ;)

I am actually decided to leave this track alone for a whiel until I figure out what to do with it. In the meantime I started working on another remix for Altitude - Altitude. I really like the way its sounding so far. When I add some more to it I will post :)
