I was thinking about mixing skills...
Got some questions:
- What DJs use BPM counters to beatmatch'?
With lots of softwares doing this like Ableton Live, Traktor, etc...
- And other question, who know a site with interviews not about info on releases or parties, I mean interviews about the technical aspect, for example: interviews with Sasha explaning how he does his perfect transitions, or other mixing skills... etc...
Could be cool learn lessons with some good djs like Oakenfold, Sasha, Digweed, Zabiela, Picotto, etc...
Well, thanks by attention.

Well,
All club djs "use" BPM counters, considering that the cdjs you will find in a club have built in bpm counters, as do 90% of the mixers you will find in clubs.
Bpm counters dont really do that much, I mean they give you a ballpark range. Its obvious they can beatmatch without them. When I say they all use them, I mean when they dj, they all have BPM readouts, if they are using cds, the bpm is on the cdj, if they are using vinyl it will show up on the mixer. Whether or not they actually look at them and use them doesnt really matter, because matching bpms wont give you a smooth mix straight away. It seems more and more do glance at them just to get to the "fine tuning" stage a bit quicker.
As far as a program like abelton goes, the djs dont really use the BPMs to beatmatch...the computer does...its automatic. |

most mixers have bpm counters, but most good djs (imo) dont use them. its much better to practice without looking at them, as if you ever encounter a mixer without one you may be a bit slower on your mix.
also, check out the dj booth for dj focused questions. you'll get the best answers.

There is a DVD 'Intellect' it's a bunch of interviews from differnet DJ's some you probably have heard of other you haven't either way it's still really great. Nigel Richards actually gives you a guide on how to DJ! You can buy it on amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...?v=glance&s=dvd
Or try Ebaying it i guess! |

personally, i find bpm counters fookin useless and i never use them, although if u want to mix on tracktor and CHEAT, it can set it automatically which can be handy
all the bpm counters on my mixer do, is make it look a little nicer |

i very much doubt any djs use bpm counters there wank they never give out the correct readouts.
whats the point in useing one anyway? ur better of just correcting what u hear in the headphones its alot simpler and quicker than trying to match up numbers on a bpm counter that arent even correct |

| BPM counters are fairly accurate with 4/4 beats (even then they keep flunctuating), but stick a break beat on and it will try and count the kick drums and totally up. For instance I stuck a Prodigy track on which I know has a BPM of 169, but my counter gave it as something like 63 beats. BPM counters only count kick-drums, and a bar is not automatically the time it takes to hit four kick drums. |

| When I bought my mixer the first I did was cover the bpm counter with a dark adhesive tape. Imo the bpm counter doesn't help you, it's better to start to mix without it then you will be able to mix any track. |
