Ok serato finally released a public "preview" of 1.3 This version finally fixes issues with corrupted mp3s, improved needle dropping, (i honestly cant tell the difference between this and vinyl now) implemented batch anyalizing, improved the waveform display, added a video framerate setting. (so if you have a slower cpu, you can cut video framerate for lower cpu usage thus lower usb buffer latency) and a bunch of other stuff...
This is a MUST for all SSL users both mac/pc :)

| The frame rate selector isn't just for people with slower machines -- 60 FPS is over kill for the screen refresh and my 17in 1.5 PowerBook was having issues with dropouts due to CPU utilization. They set me up as a beta tester for 1.3 a few months back. I use 10 FPS now and that is plenty. I haven’t had a single drop in probably 200 hours of 1.3 use. It’s rock solid. Worth the *free* upgrade. :-) |

| I agree 60fps is overkill. I use 30fps on my 1.6Ghz p4-m and i can get around 4-5ms audio latency. I also think my usb bus may be limiting how low i can set the buffer. Even when i have the video set to 5fps, the cpu usage drops to around 25-35% max but i can't set any lower than 4-5ms without audio droppouts. So i guess sunday when the boss isn't at work i'll bring my ssl interface, laptop, grab a pcmcia usb 2.0 card, and test to see if i can possiably lower the usb buffer to 1-2ms. |
