hey just curious...i remember hearing a couple of years ago...probably 2000ish that Aya Napa in Cyprus was supposed to be like the "new ibiza" because ibiza was getting really commercial bla bla bla...
so ever since then i haven't heard about it. anyone ever been there? anyone know anything more about it... |

yeh, im sure i read in mixmag the other month that tiesto, pvd have been booked to play in some clubs in ayia napa this year.
cant 100% back this info up tho :P

They did but 2step/ukg is dead now imo.

Hey man,
I am from Cyprus and i have to tell you that even though there are some clubs that do focus on 2-step garage and , there are many clubs that play trance and progressive. Last year, on the top of my head I remember that the following dj's played: Marco V , Adam White, Lexicon Avenue, Herman Cattaneo, and James Zabiella. I am sure that others played too but I was there for only 1 month.
Even though I am not gonna tell you that is better than Ibiza, it is for sure cheaper so if you are on a limited budget that's the place for you. Tourists get in most of the clubs for free so that's a plus.

| well ayia napa was supposed to be the new ibiza not for the music but for the fun that tourist had there (drugs alcohol etc etc) . Ayia Napa had been always an rnb,2step garage location . There were some Cream and Godskitchen residencys but nothing much . I remember there were some rennaisance partys but nothing more . There are some major parties happening mainly in the winter in Nicosia , Larnaca & Limassol other cities of Cyprus were major djs such as Ferry Corsten ,Tiesto,Armin,Schulz,Marco V,J00f,Sasha,Holden,Zambiela,Cataneo,Oakenfold,Carl Cox etc etc . If you want more info about clubing scene in Cyprus (Not Ayia Napa) go to Cluboholic . Just for the record for some people that confuse this Ayia Napa is not an island Cyprus is the island where Ayia Napa is a city of Cyprus :) . I hope i explained everything |

| People told me that you can't compare it to Ibiza really, because there there's parties allover the island, while Ayia Napa is just one city. I'm sure it has wild parties and all, but there's only one Ibiza in mediterannean. |

| Ayia Napa is the capital of Garage even though i have heard of multiple trance DJ playing there during the summers. I have a couple buddies from there so i might be visiting soon... |
