Another bunk HTFR story a.k.a. How HTFR slayed me so hard.... (pg. 2)

i never knew HTFR did dodgy represses. ooooooh. ive known for a long time that they suck though. most of their non vinyl studio/dj equipment stuff is almost always more expensive than alternatives from turnkey, absolute ms, imuso etc etc.

[begin rant]getting records from them was a nightmare. i tried to get hive's neo (violence recordings) about the time it just hit. they just didnt have it. juno had it. redeyerecords had hundreds of copies of it. they still have it. ive ordered records from both of those sites and once juno sent me the records on the same day i ordered. jesus christ. the only time juno ed up was when they sent the wrong record - deepdish's flashdance (+ remixs) instead of spinback and storm - your love. yea they got it pretty wrong. quick email. they said keep the deepdish record. sent me the hardcore tune for nothing. i luvs juno :tongue2

HTFR sort of take the piss in terms of how long they take to deliver and the records they actually have in stock. in many cases its hard to obtain fairly new and recent records from them that are available elsewhere. bit of a joke all round really.

and their catalogue is written by a chimp fed with brain tonic. it is full of useless and incorrect information. they claim the m-audio delta audiophile is the industry standard soundcard. my arse it is. its the cheapest one with decent drivers if thats what they mean. they go on to claim it is an 'all in one high fidelity soundcard solution for a wide variety of applications, ranging from multi-track recording to computer based home theatre.'

uhhh. they neglect to tell you the audiophile only has 2 analogue ins and outs so you cant really multi track record from anything unless you do so from 2 mono sound sources (you only get 1 stereo source. i.e. 1 synth.) and you can only output it in stereo. so that defeats any allusions to 5.1 output for watching DVDs on your PC.

they dont tell you it has MIDI in/out, digital S/Pdif in out. they dont even tell you its a ing PCI card. instead they quote the dynamic range of the digital to analogue converters from the manual as being 104.0dB. as if anyone looking for a pro audio interface from HTFR is gonna know what the that means.

glad i didnt bother buying it off them. took my chance on ebay and got a much better interface for only a little more money (and brand new).

biggest irony goes to their little comment for the xone 92. again, it manages to fill up space without actually saying anything about the product except that its bling (but they do that with all of their products so the best is always whichever carries a 3 figure pricetag:

'allen & heath xone92 is to mixers what aston martin are to cars, the hilton is to hotels and HTFR is to vinyl - pure quality.'

as for the last part, oh how wrong they are...[/end rant]

dude, chemical still has it in stock, so pick it up there...They only sell fresh vinyl, so it *should* be fine.

**sigh**

Shell out more cash for what could be another bootleg, as I've been told there is no official release?

I'm just going to email and beg Markus Schulz for a copy of the CDM... :nervous:

Seriously though, there's no way I'll order another copy without talking to someone at Chemical first... I'm so sketched out right now you wouldn't believe it...

Thanks for the advice anyways, Cheers,

It's a sad state of afairs when an online store thinks that the rants and issues are down to the people ranting and has nothing to do with them.
I have multiple horror stories from HTFR.
The thing you should never do is buy any hardware from them as often it's been in their shop and has been thrashed to for demos.
Bought two separate dual CD players from them a few years ago and on both counts there were issues either with the CD motor and/or the finish. You could tell that they had been used and they definately had a second hand feel to them even though I paid new prices.

They have some very questionable releases of records not to mention that they also have some serious issues with their product descriptions.

They would be totally without a leg to stand on with regards to legal action as consumers are allowed to exress freely what they feel about their service.

They are like the McDonald's of Online record stores. Big, bad and evil with no interest in their consumers.

i dont know where they get there 2-3 as many sales as there nearest competitor rubbish from, i'd imagine juno sells way more than them. their shop is tiny too and they make you register there when you buy something. what a load of .

I had the same problem with Juno.

I ordered Chable & Bonici - Ride (King Unique Remix), and its totally unplayable, it has loads of pops and crackling, and skips in two two places towards the end of the track.

I would have complained but it was billed as a one sided white label, does this mean i should have expected quality?

Allthough my other records were ok, one had a slightly eliptical hole for the spindle and skips on queing frequently. I probably would think twice before using juno again, for a record I could get from chemical.

I don't think the problem there is with juno. more just the record label or whoever cut the record. stuff like the hole is not by any means their fault.

If you get a record that has obviously been played and has scratches all over it and pops and whatnot and was sold as a new item, then I'd complain.

Also warped records aren't always the fault of the store. There are so many factors that can have an effect on that... mainly being the mail system.
DJ-MarkHills
another online record shop which are complete e is just down the road from htfr, ''Dance Music Finder'' possibly ran by the same people who run htfr.

anyways,

i ordered ''Hybrid - If i Survive'' from them a couple of years back, and not only did it take over 8 days for them to post it to me, when i recieved it they had sent me the wrong vinyl, and charged me £7 extra for it without telling me! now im not much on law and politics, but im pretty sure thats not legal. you cant charge someones credit card for something they did not order, and then not tell them.

also, HTFR and DMF have similar, if not the same prices on DJ equipment...

ok i know not many people can afford the A&H Xone V6 but you would have to be a complete nob to buy it from HTFR...

HTFR's Price for V6

compared to

Decks.co.uk's Price for V6

also note the fact that decks has free next day delivery on anything over £100, so if you order before 12pm your product is there the next morning.

with HTFR i wouldnt even wanna guess how much u would have to pay for next day shipping... quoting from an old htfr catalogue it would cost an extra £12 just to get next day shipping on vinyl.

however, whilst saying all that i would love to go and visit the actual store itself...

mate! give them a poliate email saying what you said here and ill bet you they will replace it for you for free. thats what they did for me. the people who run their site are really nice - they sent me the wrong record once and then sent me the right one for free when i notified them. white labels should not be really quality. ive bought white labels from juno and redeyerecords in perfect condition.

thats what i like about juno. they actually give a about what they sell and the people who buy their records which is a good business attitude to have since people like me get our records, get very happy and buy more records from them as well as recommend other people to buy records from them.

Yep, Blue Record, unplayable

not true. i have the blue record (i assume you guys are talking about the center label not an acutal blue ing vinyl) and mine plays fine. it's actually from chemical records (sticker is on the sleeve), albeit i bought it used and god knows how old it is, so i can't vouch for what chemical currently has in stock.

just FYI: the blue copy is the standard issue that you should be after
http://www.discogs.com/release/148986
i have the same exact copy as is in that pic
