I think i'm starting to get the feel of producing something that sounds professional...
I've been putting my ideas down and i have a few "catchy" tunes, but still struggling to get that "professional" sound.
So heres my question: Does the ability to make a solid track lie completly in your skill at playing the piano/keyboard, and not in your skill at sequencing?
It seems that most good tracks sound like an "orchestra" of synths; where each one seems to have a talented individual behind the keys. Enjoyable tracks dont sound like theres one person there behind a computer.
Oh how i would love to visit a studio just to see how the "professionals" build something, one peace at a time, to see how it goes from start to finish.
Does any one agree with that? |

make music from your heart, and u will get an certain sound, trying to duplicate other artists sounds can lead to something that sounds good... but lacks a certain feeling of the track..
most electronic music could as well be played by hand.. but in alot of the times it is sequenced afterwards for perfection...
this is a good tip:
try to finish everything u work on.. regardless of what u think the outcome may be..
a producer that rare or never finishes a track.. has has little significant knowledge about arranging.. |

I agree with this thread, i used to make lots of little 1 min samples of tunes, come up with a main riff or wicked bass line then never have the time to build anything round it.
Nowadays I try to finish every track i start, of course i want it all to sound good and that and never try to rush things.
The only problem i find is that i'm usually 50% done with a track/remix and then get a brand new idea for something else i'd like to do and then put the main track aside!
oh well its all good fun! ;) |
