Is There Anyway Of Adding Another USB Port To Me Puter ?

hey peeps, i made a thread about portable mp3 players and finally found one thats i can get, one prob is it uses a USB port to transfer mp3 from HD to the player, i have a gateway PC and it has two USB ports in it, both being used, one for cable modem and one for my scanner, which i nEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVEEEEEErrrrrrr use, but its the family comp and ive been told i cant use this one, but i might be able to sweet talk mum into using it, but master brother has spoken saying i cant, and he also says u cant add another USB, but hes proberly lieing coz hes always done everything he can to stop me doing anything, so question is is there a way of adding another USB port to my comp? is so where do i buy the ports from? how much? how do i fit it, just a breif discription? thanks alot! :):):)

heres what you do. Unplug the scanner, get the mp3z on your player, plug scanner back in. THAT SIMPLE!
or am I missing somehting? |

| i've seen card that you put in to give you more USB ports... wither that or parrallel ports... or i was having an acid flashback... either way, it can be done |

| thanks guys, i new it could be done, well if i can just plug and play basically with the two leads using the same usb it will be ok, if not ill buy some sort of thingy! :) |

if you ever do need to add another USB port.. it's easy. you can get a simple PCI card with a couple of ports on... it should cost u no more than a tenner from a decent computer shop :)
anyway, this is probably a poitless discussion, cos the wire that come with ur mp3 player will probably have another slot on the back so you can daisychain stuff. |

ya Coup!
easiest thing to do is just unplug the scanner, put ur mp3 player in, do whatever u need to do, then put the scanner back :):):)
otherwise, duck into a computer shop & u can either get an internal card that u chuck into a spare slot that usually has 2 or 4 extra usb ports
...or u can buy a hub that has (usually) 4 usb ports, and a cable to plug into an existing usb port (like an expansion type thing)
...or, depening how old ur coputer it, most motherboards these days have two pairs of usb connections, so if u're only using two...chances are there might be two more u can use, but just need to connect them :D:D:D
..also, if u're looking at a new monitor or keyboard sometime, i've even noticed that those even have spare usb ports thesedays :p:p:p
