I'm not a huge fan of NHL...I prefer Olympic or World Cup hockey...Anyway, this hasn't happened since 1919 and that was because of a flu epidemic...Man how times have changed...the ones I really feel bad are the industries (ie: hotels, bars, ACC staff) & their employees that have either been layed off or have had their hours reduced because of the strike...
I wonder what they will write on the Stanley Cup for 2004/2005 season?... "Incomplete"? |

I really thought that after the PA caved into the Salary Cap there was a chance.
Oh well... |

not very surprising.. even if they did come up with an agreement right now there aren't enough games to make playing a season worthwhile.
good opportunity of other sports in the market to gain some viewership

Hopefully hockey doesn't take a hit in the long run.... |

Here's a little rundown of the press conference...
"Before we play again, there needs to be a draft, but we haven't focused on it yet."
He sure is a master of throwing out figures and avoiding questions.
"There is absolutely no anamosity between the players and the league."
Right. Tell that to the players and the fans thumbs_down.gif
"Please stop fabricating this stuff between Bob and me. There's no animosity..."
Riiiiiight....
"We will come back better than ever for the fans."
"Why should you and Bob be contained in your current position, will you be able to retain your position?"
"I'm not sure why the players would want to play in smaller arena's for less money, but that is there perogative."
Well, they're playing aren't they? Not like they would be doing in the NHL right now.
Gary just basically said that the owners would have agreed to a $44/$45 million dollar deal (plus benefits).
That was a million dollar question.
"Well see what comes, thank you" |
