Anyone who is using MSN Messenger, Theres a virus spreading around thru it that apears as though one your contacts gave you a link to a handcuffs.pif file, whatever you do, Do not download it and run the file, It will infect your computer and cause your MSN to send the url to other people on your contacts, If any of you have been infected, Theres a virus removal tool you can download to permanently remove that virus from your system, Just make you dont have the restore feature enabled on XP, Otherwise the virus will still remain, Anyways, Heres the link to the removal tool.

http://securityresponse.symantec.co...er/FxBropia.exe

UPDATE: Some of you reported the virus remover not detecting the virus, Maybe cause its not the right variation of the so called virus in question since there are many versions, However, The Trend Micro Online Virus scan will remove the virus, Heather has informed me that the online virus scanner is detecting it, To use the online virus scanner, Click here.

a similar happened on AIM to me

It would be in the away message. and every 3 or 5 minutes it would pop up. if you set your away message as on think, after a couple mins, it would replace it and it was called "Cute pics from the Beach" or something and provided a link. Somehow i was stupid enough to fall for this :p

so anyway, if you ahve any AIM viruses, go here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/AIM-Fix.shtml

prob solved :)

There's not really a good reason for anyone to ever send you a link to a pif file, the extension is a dead giveaway.

Regardless, you should still scan your system in case you got it.
