McDonald's(R) Offers Customers Free Chicken Selects(R)

Company 'Outstrips' Industry as Largest Seller of Chicken Strips and Sandwiches
CHICAGO, Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- McDonald's, the nation's largest seller of premium chicken strips and sandwiches, is meeting consumer demand for quality chicken in a big way -- with the company's largest and first-ever national in-restaurant sampling event on February 17-20. Customers will have the opportunity to taste free Chicken Selects -- one of McDonald's premium chicken offerings -- and a new fat-free chipotle BBQ sauce. McDonald's estimates that more than four million Chicken Selects strips will be distributed during the four-day event.
"With Chicken Selects, McChicken(R) and Chicken McGrill(R) sandwiches, and Chicken McNuggets(R) approximately one-third of McDonald's national U.S. menu is chicken-based," said Ralph Alvarez, President McDonald's North America. "We are hosting our first nationwide sampling event to invite guests to come in and taste our Chicken Selects, just one of several great-tasting, quality chicken menu items we offer."

Chicken Selects, introduced in August 2004, is the latest addition to McDonald's chicken menu. The hand-held strips are made with premium-quality chicken breast, seasoned and lightly breaded so they are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. McDonald's Chicken Selects suppliers, Tyson Foods(R) and Keystone Foods(R), are known for select, premium-quality poultry that consumers prefer and trust.
On February 17-20 (between 11 a.m.-2 p.m.), McDonald's will host its first-ever nationwide in-restaurant sampling event with Chicken Selects at participating restaurants. Customers have two enticing opportunities: Visit participating McDonald's during this time and receive a free Chicken Selects sample in-restaurant; or come through the drive-thru during this time and receive a coupon for a free medium fry and medium drink with the purchase of Chicken Selects.
During the four-day event, McDonald's is also introducing a new fat-free chipotle BBQ dipping sauce -- a sweet BBQ sauce with a spicy kick. The new chipotle BBQ sauce is one of four sauces available, along with the three original: creamy ranch, spicy buffalo and low fat tangy honey mustard.
"The new chipotle BBQ sauce offers our customers yet another reason to try Chicken Selects," said Wade Thoma, Vice President McDonald's Menu Management. "Chipotle BBQ sauce appeals to traditional BBQ sauce lovers, but adds a spicy twist."
McDonald's Chicken Selects are available in a 3-piece size at a suggested price of $2.89, 5-piece size at a suggested price of $4.39 and 10-piece size for a suggested price of $7.99 (prices and participation may vary by restaurant).
