Dany V.
A self-proclaimed soulful-underground-dance-music-nut…. aka "househead!" though he's been spending alot of his time promoting and producing events around town through his own B9 Productions (www.b9productions.com) collective (since 2000), which clearly reflects his love of dance music on the deeper, soulful, jazzier house tip, alot of that passion can also be seen and heard through his dj'd performances as well. Dany is currently a resident dj (and event producer) for the infamous "BackTracks" fridays ( Beba Lounge) along with local house music legends, dj/producers Dino & Terry (and previously with dj/producers Peter & Tyrone) -toronto's premiere and longest-running deep house weekly.
He's been fortunate enough to have worked with some of the finest local and international talent through his own events and he's also had the pleasure of performing, producing and promoting at many other events, "afterhours" and venues around town including Aria (RIP), Jai Bar (RIP), Beba Lounge, Alto Basso, Hush/Underbar, Supermarket, Andy Poolhall, Temple Bar (Chilloungin'), Lotus, Revival, Mod Club, Sunnyside Pavillion, System Soundbar (coming soon), Boa-Redux (coming soon), along with many others.
Rich Hope
Though born a house head in Toronto, Rich first honed his DJ skills in Montreal QC. There, he spent the better part of five years in school, earning a degree at McGill in Music Technology, while holding down a residency at the acclaimed Gogo Lounge on St Laurent. Rich regularly worked the club circuit as well, gigging at venues like StereoBar, the S.A.T., and Blue Dog with Bombay’s Nav Bhinder. Things really started to roll when he launched the bi-weekly Skinnidip at Club Le Swimming, which ran strong for 3 years and continues today under new management. Along with NYC partner Alexandre Gaudieri, SoulGlo Music was established in 2002, exposing some new talents from New York and Miami, though general laziness has recently halted further output.
Music-wise, expect a set of lush deep house and classic garage this Sunday. Don’t sleep.
Sage Firman - Flutist
Since a young age Sage has been exploring the possibilities of the flute.
Classically trained he has studied with some of the premier flautists in the world today including Timothy Hutchins, Julias Baker, Jeane Baxtresser, Bonita Boyd, James Galway, among others. In addition to studying Classical Flute Performance at McGill University, Sage has studied jazz extensively and has experience playing in every kind of ensemble from Orchestras to chamber music jazz combos to big bands to solo performances to funk bands etc. When playing with a DJ Sage’s finely trained ear and DJ experience means a performance that works with the music rather than against it. Sage is always pushing the boundaries of flute performance forward and is currently working on an album of music including his ground breaking flutework. |

*** NEWS FLASH ***
Mischief will be joined behind the decks by Frankie
Lazydaze is very pleased to welcome both halfs of the M & F duo and we are looking forward to hearing what deep classic's they can pull out of the bag.
Mischief & Frankie
Always in search of the ultimate dance floor groove, Mischief & Frankie are a charismatic and stylish DJ duo with a flair for delivering funky and jackin’, Chicago-style house. At home in Toronto, they are better known as Brian Umali and Franklin Medina and together they share a common passion for good times, dancing, DJing, and last-minute gallivants to Montreal's clubbing playground.
Brian, a curious jester, is always on the prowl for anything mischievous. Schooled in Hip Hop and influenced by DJ Premier, he began DJing in 1996 as a turntablist. He would later discover his passion for house music and in early 2004 he entered the Heineken Thirst DJ competition and came 2nd in Canada. Partnering with Franklin, a fellow Virgo and cousin, they would perfect their craft and deliver dance floor rhythms with delight. They are influenced by everything that goes bump in the night including the hard hitting and groovy style of Derrick Carter and the deep feel and sleek mixing skills of Mark Farina. When asked how music makes it into their crates, the duo explains; “it’s really hard to explain, it has to have that distinct sound that makes you jack your body, that bump, that makes you feel all gritty on the dancefloor.” Drawn to the sounds produced by the likes of Jason Hodges, IZ & DIZ, Phil Weeks, Matthew Herbert and Fred Everything, Mischief and Frankie continue to seek out a funk-infused, danceable beat with every exhilarating performance.
Mischief and Frankie have been DJing all over the greater Toronto area, including Hustlin’ parties famed for their no-nonsense warehouse parties at 99 Sudbury. Although relative newcomers to the scene, they have earned opportunities to step-up and play alongside international acclaimed stars like DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Dayhota, Phil Weeks, Amir Javasoul, Fred Everything, Jacob London and locals Jason Hodges and Gryphon. House music aficionados are taking notice as Mischief & Frankie secure their place in Toronto's underground scene with solid performances at Boa-Redux's X-tended NYE celebration and the official After Party for DJ Sneak's legendary Birthday Bash and other popular club nights and prestigious events.
Mischief & Frankie's 1st promotional mix CD titled '416 in the 514', made available in October 2004, has been received with incredible praise as it celebrates their opportunity to share those funky grooves with friends and fans at Montreal’s Juice Nightclub and Stereo Bar and to DJ alongside local favourites Mighty Kat and DJ DAV.
At present, Brian and Franklin continue to host events in Toronto under the name circle_intelligence with long time friend and co-founder Ian G, a.k.a. EN-G. Brian is busy in the studio and his production work has received support and airplay by industries leaders like Jason Hodges, Phil Weeks, Amir Javasoul and local DJ and friend Gryphon. Mischief & Frankie proudly host a monthly affair in the intimate lounge of Boa-Redux, Toronto's premiere, world-class dance club. Their 2nd promotional mix CD simply titled "Boa" offers their fans a slice of their residency vibe.
In demand and building their profile, Mischief & Frankie is a name that is growing quickly as they leave a mark on the scene. This is just a taste of what these two highly talented and entertaining DJs have been up to over the past few years. They are skilled, spirited, and driven for success.
