Although I dont know what to be annoyed with.

for days now ive been messing around with fruity trying to make a tune like "Magnetic North". to be more specific im trying to do the thing that appears at exactly 1:59 in the song.

So anyways, i'm not normally this hopeless when it comes to imitating what I hear but ive tried placing notes all over the piano roll in the hope that i can get that sound...

...but don't worry guys, this isnt the real problem....

the real problem is achieving the same sort of echo.

Now I know for a fact that 'Sasha' or 'Junkie' or 'Charlie' or whoever did the engineering/mastering for that track would NOT have created a seperate instance for each note so that they could time the echoes differently.

heheh, you can pity me because I have tried that ^^^

anyway, they would have obviously used a good echoer anyway because they are lucky enough to get their hands on stuff like that.

but my question to you is this:

Is there a clever echo VST out there at all?

one that only echoes certain parts of a sound?
one that echoes only the peaks of sound?

It would be soooo awesome

please help an aspiring composer ;)

Thank You,

Meneedit :)

Meneedit,

My favourite "echo" plugin FX is... okay, dont laff...

the one that comes in Windows. Thats right. Their should be a Direct X Plugin courtesy of Bill Gates that loads into your arsenal of FX in Fruityloops (there are a few Windows ones including a wavesreverb too).

Anyways... the best thing to do is to NOT USE FruityLoops...do it offline. Open up your wav editor (Goldwave, Sonic Foundry, Cooledit, etc) and load your vocal clip in.
In the Options, Go to PlugIns and you'll find a place to load any DX plugin ...so click the echo one to make it available to your editing session.

Now...just go to the part in the vocals that you want echo to apply to....select JUST THAT PORTION and click EDIT>PLUGINS>ECHO... TADA!! You have just applied echo to THAT part only.

Hope this helps.;)

um.. sort of helps....

but... uh.. im not tryin'to do it to vocals, just a synth.

see, the thing that makes sasha's music so damn good is the differently timed echoes.

and what did u mean by windows echo :conf: :nervous:

You could try NI Spectral Delay. It does all sorts of weird .

Basically a multiband harmonic delay plugin with LFO's and stuff. I've messed around with it and got all sorts of strange delay/echo effects. Not sure if it would do that echo sound your after but you can isolate certain frequences and effect them by different ammounts.

Dunno if its what your after, but it might be worth a try.
