It goes like this.
Girls know what they want, but they don't want to know that they want because if they knew what they wanted it would go against some of the other things they want, and they might not know it. Thus they believe they don't know what they want when they actually do, which results in the interesting phenomenom that they seem not to know what they want unless they've got what they want.
