| heh, i had been using 3.56 for the longest time. 3.56 was a little too restricting for me though (16 fx channels). and fl5 is quite convenient with its mixer and stereo separators built in. |

Abraksith: thanx ^^ i turned that off and the lil problems fixed.
the ASIO drivers just dont run on my machine...the site said that would happen in some cases, guess its just my bad luck...
UphoricNitemare: thanx 4 da tipz. i dont think ill b using synth1 anymore!!
oh and does superwave p8 use a lot of cpu?
(i think i need 2 get new synths that arent 4 amateurs...hah) |

yea i remember version 3, that would run super smoothly..
but i sooo love version 5 cause of the splines!! so much better 4 automation, such a revolution ^^ |

| yes, p8 is kind of cpu heavy. i can only run 3-4 before fl gets unstable. |

hmmmm...
ok so wot do u do if u want many intruments?
someone said bounce to wav....wot does that mean? |
|

well, sometimes what i like to do is export individual tracks in fl and then import them all and line them all up in cubase. for example, i would export a kick track, a bass track, perc track, etc. using waves is a good way to defeat restrictions of a cpu's power.
exporting a track(s) to an audio format is what is meant by "bouncing a track".
if want want to maximize the power you have, it is essential to maintain your effects wisely. use sends whenever possible for common things like reverb. in essence, the effect can be shared by many linked channels instead of having to have many instances up and running.
hope it makes sense, gl. |

Bouncing to wav is basically soloing a particular instrument and then exporting the pattern as a wav file , then u load up the wav file and voila u don't waste cpu on the vst's and processors. But you won't have anywhere close to the same flexibility as you get with the instrument. You might also wanna check out kx project drivers for SB live
KX Project Page
They tend to work better then the creative drivers. Just make sure you read carefully on how to uninstall the original drivers |

| I read that you had the buffer size on maximum. You might try to lower the buffer size. |

oh ok kool...now i know wot bounching a track is ^^
hmm this kx thing, ill give it a shot, hope it doenst do any damage tho? :S
timothy: ive tried having the buffer on several sizes, the lower ones were even worse....
am i right in guessing that sample based synths such as Spectrasonics Atmosphere, wouldnt take up much cpu then? since it uses wavs? |

i read up on the kx thing...i think ill leave my current SB Live drivers 4 now...cause im also in the process of getting creative inspire 5.1 speaker system....dont wanna muck anything up ^^
and on that subject, im guessing its best that i continue producing using headphones...(good ones) and not the speakers |

I wasn't suggesting not using synth 1. Its my no. 1 lead synth. I was just suggesting that you convert these patterns to wav.

It depends on your speakers I guess. Some say its bad to produce on headphones. If you really want to get a good setup, you might look into getting some reference moniters. However, I think that some good headphones would be fine, after you use them for a while |

| honestly sounds like a configuration issue. or possible the copy of flp you have is poorly cracked. might try switching smart disable for your fx. but im going with its probly a sound driver issue based on the fact taht your only maxing 5% cpu usage while track is in play so my suggestion get the latest drivers and if that doesnt work try asio drivers. which should come with the latest sb drivers. do not use asio full duplex use asio half duplex as sometimes full duplex wont work properly. |
