Bubblegum vs. Trance, what's the difference?

What is the difference between bubblegum (which many love to hate) and trance?

It seems to be a fine line. Can someone give me some comparative differences with different groups and DJs and artists? I'd like to listen to both and see if I can even tell.

think bubble gum tends to be less subtle, more obvious, takes less to listen to it.

cos most people get bored after 8 seconds of a repetitive electronic loop, whereas EDM heads will happily listen to 4 minutes of loops with little variation.

if you listen to bubblegum tracks, each note is blatantly rudely clear, the main riffs of 'real' trance are usually pretty subtle.

Bubblegum is a flavoured chewy substance, and Trance is a music genre. Voila!

Yeah... doesn't take much to be able to appreciate trance. Listen to what you want, but you gotta agree that trance is one of the most obvious and poppy genres of EDM. That's why most people start listening to it first, and then move on to other things.

1. Bubblegum is a stupid term people give to music they don't like.

2. It's been used in many ways and if you find all the tools who use this nonsensical term they will each give you a different definition of it's meaning.

3. colonelcrisp makes a good point

4. I think the same wankers who throw around the word "cheese" like it's going out of style, are the ones who created this term "bubblegum" (in relation to music). Both terms annoy me and countless others

don't u find everyone who likes bubblegum is anti drugs, and most ppl who have moved on from bubblegum to real drugs, like the music

Wow. I was hoping for some civil answers and not all this back-lashing. I was merely asking a question. I guess that's what I get for being new around here.

I don't suppose I could get a straight answer on what EDM stands for, could I? I'll probably get yelled at again.
