Question from a newbie here...

Hey guys. I'm new to this forum and had a quick question. If I download an entire live set, what do I need to do to split it up into tracks so I can burn it onto a CD? Also, I assume I would probably have to split the file into two to fit it onto a CD since most of the sets are longer than 74 or 80 minutes. Thanks in advance for your help!

hey man the best thing i have found is cd wave splitter go to www.cdwave.com and d/l it. It kinda takes awhile and u need a good ear to hear some mixes(cuz some djs are just that good =)but it will split perfectly with no gaps when u go to burn, good luck man.

thanks dude, gotta check that out, cdrwin is a real pain at 1x speed.

I also recommend the burning software "Nero".

This integrates a track editing suite where you can easily split up a mix into individual tracks, add effects etc, then save and burn.

Also, if you want to split lets say a 160 minute long set onto two cds, simply break all your tracks up, and save as something like Mixmain.

Then, delete all the tracks that are going to be on the second cd, and save as somethng like Mix Disc 1.

Then open up Mixmain, delete all the tracks that are going to be on the first, and save it as something like Mix disc 2.

Open mix disc 1, and burn it, then open mix disc 2, and burn it, and there ya go! Your whole liveset/mix is split up into individual tracks over 2 cds! :D :D :D :D

Hey man, thanks for your help. I downloaded a demo of Nero and I'm assuming I use the Wave Editor to chop up the file. I can't find the function to do so though. Any help would be appreciated!

Hey I hear your problem, but I know of a perfect fix. Goto sonic foundry.com and download the acid 3 pro demo and look for a serial on the net, with that program you can set and past the whole file and then just right click and split at the point you want to use as the first CD. then find a button that says loop. click that and cover the entire area that you want on your first CD. goto file, render as and put it as wav and name your file. then make sure it says render what is in the looped area. after CD one is done, repeat the entire process for the second half of your song and then you have two cd's with the split track. BTW look around for a CDRWIN serialz and that should solve the problem of the 1x speed.

I find it alot easier to create a cue sheet of the set and burn it using cdrwin or fireburner. All you do is edit the cue sheet in notepad and type in the times at which each track starts. If you use cdrwin, watch that the miliseconds number you type in is not too high (i.e. above 75 i think), it will reject your cue sheet.
