Likatek has been the key factor in the rapid development of the techno scene in Kosovo, crossing a long way from the murky passages of squat parties, through radio hosting and up to becoming the architect of the world renowned “Episode” events.
Less than three years of spinning have seen him share stages with the heaviest players in the industry, in performances that resulted with invitations to some of the main events and festivals in the region and a forthcoming debut in Europe, in a tightly scheduled tour in Holland starting at the end of this month.
Inspired by the illustrious mountain peak, “Graçen” equally portrays both converse sides of its landscape - tormenting dark and heartwarming light - while worthily depicting what “Episode” is all about, an eclectic and cutting edge techno ride of its own.
Brought up under the influence of electronic music throughout the continent, Likatek returned to Kosovo to nurture this sound, initially through the radio show Electric Afternoon which he hosted weekly at an underground oriented radio station Urban FM.
Including live DJ sets, information and on air conversations with the listeners, Electric Afternoon soon took a cult status and became the milestone for the development of the clubbing scene in Kosovo. Subsequently, encouraged by Urban FM, he releases the trilogy of live mixes, starting with the ethereal Human, through expressive Shades and to the obscure Pure, all of which were distributed without charge, resulting in residencies in all clubs in Kosovo and the creation of a faithful and demanding audience.
Responding to the need to further actualize the scene that had emerged and in the meantime grown, Likatek becomes the architect of the internationally recognized series of events named Episode: which became popular for its consistency and aura of the participating local and guest DJs - placing Kosovo in a strong position in the world clubbing maps and earning it the name of one of the hottest techno scenes in the region.
The sound that best represents Episode, or his marathon sets of fused funk, tribal and hard, touching almost all the boundaries of todays techno production, has brought him both tight home schedule and appearances in some of the main international events and festivals in around Europe, playing alongside Mills, Carola, Slam, Umek, Deetron, Emerson, Lenzi, Vigorito, Smith, Dundov, Agoria, Preach, Acquaviva, Graziani, Fischer, Felipe, Mothersole, Onionz, Pappa and many others.
Enjoy! :) |
