What does it mean when...

You buy a record and it says for example

Haak presents Annunaki

or
Warp Brothers present Damient O'Connor

Why does it say whoever presents whoever when the track is being produced by the person doing the presenting right?

it depends...

a producer made this track under a different name....
sometimes its a vocalist....
sometimes its an artist that helped so and so with a track...
sometimes its an artist presenting a new duo...

there is no specific definition

same thing as...

vs.
feat.

yea its confusing...

Warp Brothers present Damient O'Connor = vocalist i think??

Haak presents Annunaki = Haak & im not sure if he was, but MIKE was supposidly at some point (probably to boost sales)

Mario Piu presents DJ Arabesque = himself

Markus Schulz Presents Elevation = Elevation, but markus helped put the track together & master it

CRW Presents Veronika = vocalist

for examples that i know
varun
Just to make Sandstorm's post more clear..
Usually, 'presents' is used when a producer is introducing an alias/different production name. This may be a collaboration or a solo production.
Vocalists are usually 'featured' on a track. Therefore, if you see a track such as 'Sultan Feat. Stephanie Vezina', that would imply a vocalist featured on that track.
VS. is pretty much the same as AND. It is also used quite frequently on bootleg tracks.
e.g
Alex Morph Vs. Eric Pridz.
Hope this helps. :)

i always found it confusing as well mostly because of how people name their mp3s wrong. wrong mix, wrong artist, then theres the ones that are collaborations that are remixed...:conf:  :conf:
