with out a doubt the best sound system on the west coast(and the east coast is avalon boston, same EAW's... now just installed in Avalon in D.C.)... vibe is very trendy, but if i was visiting this is a great spot to club.
btw, DaveT if u read this... about 1 year ago we talked about who would be bigger, Spundae or Avalon and the debate still continues. On the west coast Spundae is legit but Avalon is seriously stepping into your terroritory along w/ already owning the east. |

1. Ice in Vegas has by far the best sound system on the west coast. And that may now be followed by Ruby Skye's new soundsystem, which is an EAW Avalon system. It's soooooooooo clear. Avalon's sound is awesome, though...probably haven't heard it enough to judge fairly, but I do know that Ice's system is easily the best. :p
2. And there are numerous systems on the east coast that have better soundsystems than Avalon, places from Space in Miami to the Crobars. Essentially, the clubs with Phazons in it and the new system that's by the original creator of the Phazon system.
3. It'll be interesting to see what Spundae can pull over at Circus. The team handling all the LA stuff is different than the team that was handling it before (as that's GK now). Up here in SF, Spundae has been OWNING and essentially has taken over just about all the best nights in recent memory at Ruby Skye (not all, but most) and many people have considered the stretch we are having up here the best stretch in the last five years. Spundae SF handles a good number of the DJs that's handled by Avalon or other promoters down in LA...like Sasha, Tiesto, Digweed, Roger Sanchez, and lots more.
I honestly think that if GIANT wasn't at Avalon and was at another venue away from the area that attracts the "Hollywood" crowd, they wouldn't be as "big" as people perceive them to be...because on most nights the crowd they get in there is NOT there for the DJ, but just to get wasted.
4. See everyone @ Circus next Sunday! |

well dave heres where experience might overtake your opinion. i was an intern at a sound engineering firm in high school. i learned everything about large capacity set ups. I think the only sound system that can compete w/ Avalon in Boston would be the original limelight w/ a compelte package of custom manufactored quad pass speakers.
the only reason i say it might compete is because limelight was originally in a cathedral where acoustics are undenyably more clear because of the shape of everything(this isn't as good now because of all the building codes) |

| agreed on the ice system, at least from my experiance. and as for giant i think that is so on, its really a hollywood crowed. they honestly do not have to bring out top end djs to sell out a night. |

Well, I'll go by my experience plus what just about everyone else I know who's also had the personal experiences at these places also believes. It's pretty unanimous. Maybe Avalon Boston technically has the best sound, but everyone's ears seem to think otherwise. :p
PS. I also did extensive hands-on in audio (and video) engineering while High School at Full Sail in Orlando, Florida. While in High School, I was in an engineering, science, and technology magnet program and did video & audio engineering during all four years, two years of it spending quite a bit of time at Full Sail or with Full Sail people. I do video engineering & editing as my career now (and am about to take more classes on it as I am diving into High Definition), so my exact knowledge of sound engineering isn't nearly what it once was, plus technology has come a long way since then.
